Week- 5 - Solid meshing
Aim :- For the given Rear view mirror component, check for the geometrical errors and mesh the Surfaces with the given 2D element Quality criterias given below.
|
1 |
Target/Average length |
1 |
|
2 |
Minimum Length |
0.5 |
|
3 |
Maximum Length |
2 |
|
4 |
Tet collapse |
0.2 |
Procedure :-
1. Import the model in ANSA. File > Open > Rearview mirror.igs
2. Cons resolution. Mesh > Length > select the model > give length parameter= 1.
3. Check for the single and triple cons if any try to avoid unnesessay single and triple cons using topo option. Topo > Faces > topo.
4. Modify the orientation of model. Topo > Faces > Orient
5. Check geometry. Tools > Check > Geometry (if shows any error try to fix it).
6. Change the length parameter as per quality criteria which is 1. We supress the line which are too close to each other which is less then mimimum length.
7. Set mesh parameter and quality criteria. Entities > Mesh Parameter / Entities > Quality Criteria > Shell
8. Mesh the model. (tria for flat surface , ortho tria for curved surface) Mesh > Mesh Generation > Best.
9. If mesh is not good then we can use reconstruct or if the mesh shows any error we can use smooth to fix.
10. Define Volume. Mesh Volume > Define.
11. Set quality criteria for 3d meshing (Tet collaspe = 0.2). Entities > Quality Criteria > Solid
12. Now we 3D mesh the model. Volume Mesh > Unstructured Mesh > Tetra Rapid.
13. Check for element intersection. Tools > Check > Penetration > Intersection.
Repeat the same procedure for different PIDs
From this we learned about 3D meshing of the model.
