Week- 5 - Solid meshing

AIM:-To mesh the given Rear view mirror model using tetra mesh with given quality criteria.

Quality Criteria:-

Sno Quality Criteria Value
1 Target length 1.0
2 Minimum Length 0.5
3 Maximum Length 2.0
4 Tet Collpase 0.2

PROCEDURE:-

1. Import model to ANSA:- After importing model to ANSA, make perimeter & macros length to 1.0 to refine the CAD.

2. Geometry & topology cleanup:-

Here check for error like needle faces, single cons, triple cons & damage faces.

Fix the errors by autofix command or manually.

3. Meshing:- Mesh the model with given quality criteria.

Select spot meshing with ortho tria especially in curved area for getting good mesh pattern.

Tria mesh can also be used in flat surfaces.

4. Reconstruct:- Select reconstruct option from shell mesh to improve the mesh as per quality.

5. Define volume:- After meshing, we need to define volume for each PID.

    Go to Volume mesh-Define volume-Manually

6. Tetra Meshing:-It is called unstructured meshing where volume of surface gets filled with tetrahedral elements.

It can be done in two ways-

1. Tetra Rapid

2. Tetra FEM

7. CHECK FOR TETRA COLLAPSE-

After solid meshing check for tetra collapse by giving value of 0.2

Learning outcome:-

1. Learnt solid meshing by using tetra mesh in ANSA interface.

2. Use of tria & ortho tria element for getting good mesh pattern.

3. Able to generate volume in surface with given quality.

Conclusion:-

Tetra meshing is done on Rear view mirror with the given quality criteria.

Good mesh pattern in solid meshing in comparison to shell mesh.
