Challenge

Week- 5 - Solid meshing

Aim:- In week 5 challenge im going to provide the volume mesh over the component while avoiding the tet collapse in that region.

Procedure:-

  • First step is to import the geometry into the ansa and to check for any geometrical errors present in the model by using the geometry checks command.
  • After checking for the geometry error we have to measure the features and fillet length in the model and to see wether its fall below the minimum criteria if yes the we suppressed it to avoid the failing of the element.
  • Ater completing the defeaturing work next step is to provide quality criteria and the mesh parameters given in the questions.
  • Onces the quality criteria is assign then we move to towards the mesh module, here we provide tria over the surfaces
  • basically there a two types ortho tria and simple tria, ortho tria is used over the complex region where there is fillet or feature and tria are used where there is flat region.

  • As we can see in the above image that the shell mesh was perform on the different component.
  • Next step is to provide the volume mesh ont the region that can be done in volume mesh module.
  • we need to define the volume which will be assign the volume in psolid card, after assigning the volume we can perform the volume tetra mesh over the component using different algorithm.
  • Major two algorithm are there tetra rapid and tetra fem which can be use to provide the volume meshnover the region.
  • As we can see in the above image the volume mesh were performed here there is no tet collapse as if we find the tet collapse in the region then that has tobe removed using MV free command
  • Keeping in mind there should not be any dent and raises surface.

Conclusion:-

From this challenge i conclude that we have togo for volume mesh when the geometry is having the varying cross section area where mid surface is not possible. learned about the hex mesh and tetra mesh and perfom the volume mesh.
