REPORT ON CLAMP UNIT DESIDN

INTRODUCTION:

The clamp unit in the fixture design is the sensitive part of the opertaions.The unit is to hold the components using the clamps for the welding and assembly processes to be done on the car panel.In this report the design methodology of the clamp unit is discussed breifly eloberating about each part in the clamp unit assembly.

THE CLAMP UNIT PARTS:

1. FINGER
2. REST
3. CLAMP ARM
4. CLAMP CYLINDER
5. BLADE (IF NECESSARY)
6. RISER

1. FINGER:

The finger is a NC block that is attested to the clamp arm which is responsible for holding of the car panel.Its is a sensitive process because the flaw in the finger can lead to deformations and distortions on surafce of the car panel or it can lead defective welding due to misalignment.

2. REST:

The rest holds the same responsibility as the finger but is attested on the blade/riser.The necessary space is provided for the shimming for both mylars.

3. CLAMP ARM:

Clamp arm is the retractable arm that engages and disenganges the finger on the car panel.The retractable angle can be custamised depending upon the position requirement i.e, 15,30,45 deg the maximum retractable angle can vary depending the type of cylinder.

4. CLAMP CYLINDER:
