Week 5 Challenge : Surface wrap on Automotive Assembly
Aim:
• To check for the geometrical errors and deleting surfaces which are unwanted for Surface wrap, and
• After clearing geometry, To merge all 3 models and perform surface wrap.
What is Surface Wrappng?
Ans:
The surface wrapper wraps the geometry of interest to create a volume that does NOT have intersecting surfaces or non-manifold edges. The surface wrapper can be used when parts are overlapping, have duplicate surfaces or when your input has to high level of detail.
Procedures And Results:
Step1: Opening the intial geometry of each model
A. Engine
B.Transmission
c. Gear Box
Step2: After deleting unnecessarry elements and clearing the geometrical errors
A. Engine

C. Gear Box
Step 3:Assembling And Surface Wrapping
A. Assembling of the Models
1. Merging the Geometric Model of Transmission
2. After Merged
3. Merging the Geometric Model of Gear Box
4. After Merged
B. Setting the wrap parameters(Taken, Target Length= 5mm )
C. Deleting Unnecessarry PID's
1. Open PID
2. Compress
3.Assigning PID's for surface wrapping
D. Starting of Surface Wrap by clicking on Run
E. Complete Surface Wrap
Conclusion:
- This model has not been attached with the necessary surface meshing and volume meshing criteria, criteria considered by own according to necessity.
- This challenge is exposed to the process of Surface Wrapping.
- This challenge helped us to explore different methods of geometry cleanup.
- This challenge helped to deal with single & Triple cone errors.
- This challenge helped us to explore different tools of ANSA, such as Merge,Wrap.
- This challenge helped us to learn about Surface Mesh on Geometric Models..
