Week 5 Challenge : Surface wrap on Automotive Assembly

Aim

Perform surface wrap surface wrap for a given geometry.

Explanation:

There are three geometry which are engine, gearbox, transmission. After clearing geometry, Merge all 3 models and perform surface wrap, given target length is 3mm

Engine:

Given geometry looks so messy and distortion, so geometry clean up is not all possible thats why we go for surface wrap.

Shadow mode with PID

We can see there are many number of tubes intersects with geometry, we have to delete those faces

There are so many unwanted surface we have to use universal delete.

For that here i use NOT PID to isolate the unwanted surface for universal delete.

Now i have cleared most of the tube surface lets check for any intersections and cons.

Here there is triple con and red con appears lets hide the outer surface

There is a tube surface inside we can delete it to clear the triple con.

Here is a triple con it might be a surface inside

Here i cleared the tube surface and there is overlapped surface in bottom we dont have to worry about inner side of geometry in surface wrap.

Here there are series of single con if we hit topo it turns into triple cons.

here also there is a tube surface we can delete this.

Like this we can do for other surface to clear the triple con

Here there are red con and triple con surface

Here i hide the surface there is a tube found we have to delete this.

Now we cleared the trople cons.

Here we found triple con we can delete that surface.

Here we found red cons in housing lets hide thisand take a look

There is a tube inside we can delete this ti fix that trple con

here we found a red con lets delete and recreate that surface.

here also there are triple cons lets take a look

Here i hide a surrounding surface thereis a surface inside it we can delete this

Behind the triple cons there might be an extra surface

Here is one large size tube we can delete this.

Now we cleared triple con.

There is a syrface insidethe pulley we have to delete

Here an extra surface intersect with tht part

I have deleted that messy surface.

Here also a triple con lets take a look

We can delete that surface tp clear the triple con

we left one circular tube while isolating the engine part, now we can delete this.

Transmission

Unlike engine in transmission there is not much needed geometry clean up. here we can see triple con lets hide a face

Here is tube like surface inside, we have to delete to clear the triple con.

Here also there is an unwanted surface causes triple con, we can delete

Here is a surface to delete.

Gearbox

Here it is gearbox geometry lets take a look for clean up.

Geometry is perfect no need for clean up.

Lets go for merge

Here we merged an engine with transmisssion

For merge we have to enable auto fit models and merge with current model. like this we can merge gearbox.

Before we go for surface wrap we should fill all the holes otherwise surface would be distorted.

Now lets go for surface wrap. currently our wrap status is empty.

Now we need to assign the parameters.

Our given target length is 3mm

We added the PIDs for surface wrap

There 114 PIDs to wrap.
