Week 5 Battery characteristics using drive cycle
Objective : To simulate generic battery model, charge and discharge using UDDS data.
Example :
A driving cycle is a series of data points representing the speed of a vehicle versus time. Driving cycles are produced by different countries and organizations to assess the performance of vehicles in various ways, as for example fuel consumption and polluting emissions.
Use a signal builder block to create the drive cycle data of the UDDS cycle. The limitation of the signal builder is that it accepts data in the form of only the current profile. So, the speed v/s time data from drive cycle should be converted to its corresponding current profile with respect to time.
The +ve of the signal builer goes to -ve of Battery, the -ve of signal builder goes to the +ve of the battery as shown in the fig.1.1.
Ode15s is used as a solver. Hence, continous block is inserted inside the model

Battery inputs given are shown in the fig.1.2.
Fig.1.2.
The output observed in the scope with 1200 cycles are , SOC (%) , Current (A) , Voltage (V) as shown in fig.1.3.
Fig.1.3.
Conclusion : From the Output, We could conclude that the SOC of battery decreases as the voltage decreases with varying current inputs or the current drawn from the battery is varied as per the UDDS drive cycle which is given as input.
