Objective: Aim : To Calculate the wheel arch radius for the given Fender model and check for its eligibility to pass the European Standards. Explanation : Wheel Arch is an arch shaped cavity in the fender body, which houses a wheel. The main intention for the calculation of wheel arc radius is to position the wheel inside the fender…

  1. Doug BartonThis is great a great resource Gautham, thank you for posting. Hard to find these regs in an internet search, so all three standards together here is really nice. What I can't find is a TYPICAL wheel arch radius for different vehicle types, SUVs/raised vehicles, low sports cars, sedans and wagons etc. I ask because 1 cm minimum seems crazy close to the tire, even for a sports car, much less the .05 in US & Japan... So a question: Let's say you have a midsize sedan, and for the sake of simplicity the fender arch is constant, I don't know the right term, concentric(?) with the tire at all points except below the axle line at the back. Would an arch radius of 58.5 mm be excessive for this type of car? Just by eyeing it doesn't seem excessive, the gap in non-raised cars looks at least as tall as the tire sidewall itself, and obviously taller in SUVs. I don't know if this question can be answered since most designs don't have regular arcs for fender arches, but thanks anyway.
