Week 4 -Wire Bending Challenge
WIRE BENDING STATIC ANALYSIS USING ANSYS
Aim:
To perform a static structural analysis of wire bending operation using ANSYS and present a comparative analysis of results by assigning three different materials to the wire piece.
Materials to be used are
- Copper alloy NL
- Aluminium alloy NL
- Magnesium alloy NL
Introduction:
A bending machine is a forming machine tool. Its purpose is to assemble a bend on a workpiece. A bend is manufactured by using a bending tool during a linear or rotating move. The detailed classification can be done with the help of the kinematics.

Goto non-linear alloy materials and select the three materials
- Copper alloy NL

- Aluminium alloy NL

- Magnesium alloy NL

Conclusion:-
from the results it is seen that aluminium alloy having the less stress compared to other materials as shown above and strain is less for magnesium alloy due to lesser young modules so i choose magnesium allow as the safe material.
