Week-4 Challenge WOT Condition Part-2

1) Mapped model of engine:

  • In mapped models the data is taken from a lookup table which contains - Engine, Motor, Generator performance under certain parameters
  • Mapped engines represent macro engine behaviour as a set of look up tables ( Brake, torque, fuel flow emissions etc..)
  • Mapped engine models are suitable for analysis and design activities that do not require engine subsystem dynamic characteristic.
  • This model leads to faster solving times

Dynamic Model of engine:

  • It combines the result of different components to get the dynamic effect.
  • This is used if we need more detailed and component level data and to analyse the impact of individual engine/motor/Generator components overall performance
  • Used for designing control, estimator and diagnostic algorithms that depend on dynamic subsystem states
  • Dynamic engine decompose engine behaviour into individual component models that account for engine dynamics

To change model type:

  • Open Powertrain blockset and go for passanger car and select Electric plant or Engine plant
  • Right click on Generator/Engine/Motor and select variant and select label model active choice and chosse mapped or dynamic for the calculation.

2) How does model calculate miles per gallon

  • Miles per gallon is a fuel economy rating determined by how far a car can travel on a gallon of gasoline or diesel. The metric version for same is KM/L
  • The calculation is done by considering vehicle speed, fuel volume flow and battery power as input.

Factors that effects the fuel economy:

  • Frequent cold weather travel
  • Excessive short trips
  • Heavy braking or acceleration
  • High vehicle weight
  • Speeding

3) The result is attached with changing Grade and Wind velocity for reference application HEV.

Attached with naming WOT Drive cycle with HEV Application

4) The difference of HEV Reference application and EV Application is attached below.
