Week 4 Challenge : CFD Meshing for BMW car
CFD MESHING FOR BMW CAR
AIM:
To check and solve geometrical errors and assigning PIDs
Performing meshing with target length and element quality criteria
Creating and Meshing wind tunnel volume
CHECKING AND SOLVING GEOMETRICAL ERROR:
After Cleanup the grills

After Cleanup the logo

After Cleanup the tyres

PERFORMING MESHING AND ELEMENT QUALITY CRITERIA:
ELEMENT QUALITY CRITERIA:
1.Skewness
2.Min length
3.Max length
After meshing ,
Grills,
Target length = 1mm
Min length = 0.8mm
Max length = 1.2mm

Tyres and windows , rear view mirror,
Target length = 2mm
Min length = 1.5mm
Max length = 2.5mm

Body,
Target length = 3mm
Min length = 2.5mm
Max length = 3.5mm

Lights ,
Target length = 4mm
Min length = 3.5mm
Max length = 4.5mm

After CFD meshing and freezing, we can see with zero off elements

The above image shows the full model with zero off elements and zero unmeshed elements.
TO CREATE WIND TUNNEL AND MESHING:
By creating relative points on the bottom and offset the bottom face to top face and followed by creating new side faces
To create wind tunnel, dimensions of wind tunnel are followed by literature review.

Meshing the top and bottom face and side faces
Bottom Face target length = 20mm
min length = 1mm
max length = 30mm
Top Face target length = 100mm
min length = 90mm
max length = 110mm
Side faces
Here by manual spacing, D_start and D_Limit are specified as 20 and 100mm
