Week 4 Challenge

1. The Tooling Direction is the direction in which the mold pulls apart. The mold is built in two separate pieces which are the cavity and core sides. Tooling direction is created for the easy removal of the core and cavity without affecting the mold.

3. Parting line is the line in which both the cavity and core meets.

2. CLASS A DRAFT ANALYSIS

4. THICKENED LENS (CLASS B)

  • THICKENED LENS DRAFT ANALYSIS

5. PARTING LINE

6. REPORT

  • First step was to create the tooling direction for the class A and the draft analysis was done with 10 degrees. By adjusting the angle of the tooling axis proper 10 degree draft was achieved.
  • The next step was to create the B surface by offsetting the input lens by 4mm.
  • Then through the sweep and blend function C Surface was created and was joined with the A Surface.
  • Then the B surface was trimmed with the joined Class A & C and hence we got the Thickened Lens.
  • And then appropriate edge fillet was given to the inner part of the thickened lens.
  • The outer edge of the thickened lens was used to create the parting line where the core and cavity meets.
