Week 4- Challenge
Objective: To create a rod element according to given dimensions and with only transational DOF and RBE2 link.
CAD model :
Procedure:
i) Import the IGES file from the import window and provide the shaded view for proper visiblity of the geometry.
ii) Then go to 2D option and do the automesh by specifiyng the element size and finish it after making the arrangements of element nodes around the holes.
iii) Now open the hyperbeam tab option and create a new standard optistruct box, I section and cross section and provide the given dimensions.
a). i) Create a RBE2 link around the both holes A using the option rigid from 1D option.
ii) Then create a ROD element from the rods option in 1D option.
iii) Now create the property and link the box element on hole A which was created in the hyperbeam view tab.
b). i) Create a RBE3 link around the both holes B using the option RBE3 from 1D option.
ii) Then create a BEAM element from the bar option.
iii) Now create the property and link the I section element on hole B.
c). i) Create the RBE3 link around the both holes C according to the given DOFs.
ii) Then create a BAR element from the bar option.
iii) Now link the cross section element in the properties.
d),e): i) Create the RBE2 link over the holes D and E.
ii) Provide the masses at both holes of magnitude 10 from masses option in 1D options.
f): Create a spring element using the spring option over any two nodes on each sides at F points and giving the element type as celas1.
Result: The required links with given DOFs and section elements, masses and stiffness elements are created as given.
