Week 4 Challenge

1. Define Tooling Direction.

Sol.

  • In Molding machine arrangement is given to open the mold along a direction which is known as Tooling Direction.
  • In other words. The mold is built from two separate halves (Core and Cavity) and tooling direction basically define the direction of mold pulls apart.
  • Tooling direction is known as primary direction.

2. Create tooling direction for Class A with 10 deg draft ( draft in command should be 10 deg) and show the draft analysis.

Sol. Tooling Axis

  • The direction in which the mold called the tooling axis core and cavity opens is Tooling axis
  • Considering the ejection from the cavity of the mold after manufactering the interior trim must have the nominal 3 degree draft angle. Hence the tooling axis is crested by considering this factor
  • The white clour line is the tooling axis of this surface
  • For Class A surface draft analysis is perform below
  • Draft Analysis
  • This type of analysis is performed based on colour ranges identifying zones on the analysed element where the deviation from the draft direction at any point.
  • The Green colour denotes the draft angle is in the standards (3 degree).
  • The Blue colour denoted its is below (3 degree).
  • The Red colour denotes the surface is not producable.
  • For solid body draft body is perform below.

3. Write the definition of the Parting line

Sol. A parting line, in industrial casting of molds, is the border line between the two halves of the mold (known as the “core” and the “cavity.”), which draft direction change at here. One can check the parting line in the mould or product which divides the two half. It is sometimes a starting point for the mold parting surface.

4. Create B surface of the given lens in surface modeling (not in part), with a 4 mm thickness

Sol. IMage attached below.
