Week - 4
1.1 Aim
To Implement control logic of a “washing machine” using State flow. Aftaer all the processes completed turn on the Finished LED. Respective conditions are
- If the power supply is available, the system gets activated
- If the Water supply is not available, stop the process & indicate through LED
- Soaking time should be 200s followed by Washing time of 100s.
- Then rinsing happens for next 20s & dryer runs for 50s
1.2 Analysis
- Design the control logic of the system using 'CHART' block.
- 'Power switch' and 'Water level' are the two inputs given to the sytem.
- 'Water level indicator' and 'finished indicator' are two described outputs of the system.
- Water level indicator turns on when water supply is not available.
- Once all the processes completed, finished indicator turns on.
- Fig.1 shows the control logic of a washing machine using state flow.
- Fig.2 shows the Simulink model of the system when Power and water supply is available.
- Fig.3 shows the Simulink model of the system when water supply is not available.

1.3 Result
Control logic of a washing machine using state flow using 'Chart' block has been implemented successfully. Water level indicator and finished indicator are working according to the given input condition.

2.1 Aim
To make a Simulink chart for the “Gear shift” and give speed input while simulation is runningand display the gear number. Condition are
Speed Range(kmph) Gear
0 to 15 1
16 to 25 2
26 to 40 3
41 to 60 4
Above 61 5
2.2 Analysis
- Design the state flow to change the gear number for differenet speed as per the condition.
- 'Speed' is given as input to the system and 'Gear number' is taken as ouput from the system.
- Stop time is changed to 'inf' so that we can vary the input while running.
- Fig.4 shows the control logic for gear shift using state flow.
- Fig.5 shows Snapshot of the system for different speed in a single run.
- Fig.6 shows the plot of variation in speed and gear number while simuation is running.

2.3 Result
Control logic of a Gear shift system has been implemented successfully for various speed. As speed increases, we can observe the change in gear number.
