Challenge

Week - 4

  1. Implement control logic of a “washing machine” using Stateflow as per given sequence:
  • If the power supply is available, the system gets activated
  • If the Water supply is not available, stop the process & indicate through LED
  • Soaking time should be 200s followed by Washing time of 100s.
  • Then rinsing happens for the next 20s & dryer runs for 50s

After all the processes have been completed turn on the finished LED

PROCEDURE

WORKING PRINCIPLE OF A WASHING MACHINE:-

The working principle of a washing machine is centrifugation. Centrifugation is a separation process that uses the action of centrifugal force to promote the accelerated settling of particles in a solid-liquid mixture. The washing machine consists of a centrifuge for this purpose. A centrifuge is a piece of equipment that puts an object in rotation around a fixed axis, applying a force perpendicular to the axis of spin that can be very strong.

SOAKING:

It is used to dip clothes in detergent water to remove dirt from the clothes. In this function customer need to select soak from a panel Soak - This function is available with wash timer, In 42 min of washing 27 min is soak and 15 min machine will wash the dothes.

WASHING:

During the wash cycle, a large plastic agitator (green) turns around, moving your clothes through the water. When the wash is finished, the pump drains the water from the outer drum.

RINSING:

The dirty, soapy water is drained, then the washing machine is refilled and your clothes are "rewashed" in clean water. Spirc All the water is drained completely, then your clothes are spun very fast and excess water is removed thanks to centrifugal force

DRYER:

They work by pushing warm dry air through your wet washing to extract moisture, then cooling the now humid air in a heat exchanger to condense the maisture, which is collected in a tank or pumped down the drain. The (now dry) air is reheated and the cycle repeats.

STATE FLOW:

Stateflow provides a graphical language that includes state transition diagrams, flow charts, state transition tables, and truth tables. By using Stateflow to describe how MATLAB algorithms and Simulink models react to input signals, events, and time-based conditions

CONTROL LOGIC:

Control Logic is model system logic using State machines, Flowchart, and Truth tables.

EXPLANATION FOR CONTROL LOGIC OF A WASHING MACHINE USING STATE FLOW:

State Flow is a Simulink tool to implement the state machine. Here model system logic of a Washing Machine using State flow has been done.

Step 1: Create a chart and enter the given input conditions. Given Input Conditions:

• If the power supply is available, the system gets activated

• If the Water supply is not available, stop the process & indicate through LED

• Soaking time should be 200s followed by Washing time of 100s.

• Then rinsing happens for next 20s & dryer runis for 50s

After all the processes have been completed turn on the finished LED

Step 2: After entering the input conditions in the chart, Go to the Symbols pane and assign the given variable. (Example: input data, Output data, etc.)

Step 3: Give the input values for turning on or off for the Power Supply and Water Supply.

Condition:

if value =1, Power and Water Supply will turn On.

if value = 0, Power and Water Supply will turn off.

Step 4: Use the 'display' block and 'Lamp' indicator to display the results.

output:-

case 1:- if the Power Source = 0 ,

Power Supply is not available and system is not activate

case 2:-

If the Power supply is 1,

Water supply is 0,

so system will not activate

.

case 3:-

Power Supply =1

Water Supply =1

so system will activate and after all process completed and Lamp will turn ON

2. Make a Simulink chart for the “Gear shift” logic as per below conditions:

Speed Range(kmph) Gear

0 to 15 1

16 to 25 2

26 to 40 3

41 to 60 4

Above 61 5

Give speed input while the simulation is running & display the gear number.

Mechanical device that enable the driver to engage gear in such a way as to obtain to desired transmission ratio are called as gear shifting mechanism

Step 1:- Create a chart inter the given condition for gear shifting.

Step 2: After entering the input conditions in the chart, Go to Symbols pane and assign the given variable (Example: input data. Output data, etc.)

Step 3: Connect the 'Slider Gain' to vary the speed while simulation is running.

Step 4: Create Constant and giving value 1 and o for turning on & off.

Step 5: Create 'Lamp' to Indicate the power is on or off.

Step 6: Use 'display' Block to display the Gear position.

Output:-

Case - 1: If the Key = 0, then the power will turn off, Lamp indicate the blue colour and Gear shifting mechanism will not activate.

Case- 2 If the Key 1, then the power will turn on, Lamp indicate Green colour and Gear Shifting mechanism will activate.

Case:-

by varying the speed (parameter) in the speed motor (slider gain). gear position will change according to the given condition.

Given speed = 37.800km/hr in the speed motor, if the speed id between 25km/hr 3rd gear will activate as per the given condition. gear position is display below in the Simulink model.

likewise changing the speed in speed motor according to the given condition. Gear position will display.
