Week-3 Challenge: ADVISOR Tool
Aim:
To use the ADVISOR tool and simulate the following
1. For EV_defaults_in file, if cargo mass is 500 kg with all other default conditions, can the vehicle travel for 45 km with FTP drive cycle? Conclude your observations.
2. In the above case, try changing the battery capacity and repeat the simulation.
3. Perform gradeability test with PRIUS_Jpn_defaults_in file
Compare your results in table and conclude.
Theory:
1. The cargo mass value has been changed to 500 kg to its default value of 136kg.

Now the drive cycle is chosen as FTP (federal test procedure)

So according to the given condition the vechicle should travel the distance of 45 km which is achieved by using FTP drive cycle for times.
For 1 cycle the distance achieved is 17.8 km

- For 2 cycle the distance achieved is 35.5km

For 3 cycle the distance achieved is 41.4km

From this we have understand that the vechicle does not able to cover the distance od 45 km because an error is found
2. To overcome the error we should increase the battery capacity in order to vechicle travel further distance.

Thus we conclude that the vechicle can cover the distance of 40 km by increasing the battery module capacity according to the given distance.
3. To perform gradeability test with PRIUS_Jpn_defaults_in file
Compare your results in table and conclude.

The gradability test is performed by in the interval of keppeing constant 20 sec.
The gradeability at 35.2 kmph

The gradeability at 8 kmph

The gradeability at 24.1 kmph

The gradeability at 40.2 kmph
The gradeability at 48.3 kmph
The gradeability at 56.3 kmph

The gradeability at 64.4 kmph

The gradeability at 72.4 kmph

The gradeability at 80.5 kmph

The gradeability at 96.6 kmph

The gradeability at 112.7 kmph

The gradeability at 128.7 kmph

The gradeability at 144.8 kmph

The gradeability at 160.9 kmph

The gradeability at 164.2 kmph

| S.NO | SPEED(mph) | SPEED(kmph) | GRADEABILITY(%) | DURATION(SEC) |
| 1 | 5 | 8 | 35.2 | 20 |
| 2 | 10 | 16.1 | 33.7 | 20 |
| 3 | 15 | 24.1 | 27.7 | 20 |
| 4 | 20 | 30.2 | 22.9 | 20 |
| 5 | 25 | 40.2 | 19.7 | 20 |
| 6 | 30 | 48.3 | 17.7 | 20 |
| 7 | 35 | 56.3 | 16 | 20 |
| 8 | 40 | 64.4 | 14.6 | 20 |
| 9 | 45 | 72.4 | 13.4 | 20 |
| 10 | 50 | 80.5 | 12.4 | 20 |
| 11 | 60 | 96.6 | 10.6 | 20 |
| 12 | 70 | 112.7 | 8.3 | 20 |
| 13 | 80 | 128.7 | 6.2 | 20 |
| 14 | 90 | 144.8 | 4.4 | 20 |
| 15 | 100 | 160.9 | 2.6 | 20 |
| 16 | 102 | 164.2 | 0.3 | 20 |
According to this table we came to know that the when vechicle speed increases the gradeability is gradually decreasesd.
