Week-3 Challenge: ADVISOR Tool

1.   For EV_defaults_in file, if cargo mass is 500 kg with all other default conditions, can the vehicle travel for 45 km with FTP drive cycle? Conclude your observations.

 1)For the folllowing we set all the paramteres given in the question

only changes to make are to cahnge file to ev_defaults

and cargo mass to 500kg.

2)then we continue our report to the ftp cycle and try to plot the graph for speed vs distance etc

we can clearly see that the max distance here given is 11.03 miles i.e the vehicle will travel around 17.7miles with 500

kg cargo weight

 

for ftp 3 number of cycles we get distance as 41.4 kms,

in our

following are the results for 4 ftp cycles 

the results are same as 3 ftp cycles which means the soc after 3 ftp cycles must be zero and battery has drained to its max

therefore we can say that vehicle cannot travel 45kms with ftp cycles it will be short 4 kms.

2.   In the above case, try changing the battery capacity and repeat the simulation.

Keeping all the parameter s same we will run the simulation  by changing battery capacity 

and nominal voltage

with 25module and nominal voltage 308

25 module battery and 1st ftp cycle.

25module 2nd ftp distance travelled 35.4kms

25 module battery and 3rd ftp cycle distance covered is 41.4kms

2)NOW we change battery module and nominal voltage to 27 and 333

for 1stftp and battery module 27 we get distance 17.8kms

2nd ftp cycle and 27 moudle we get distance travelled 35.5kms

for 3rd ftp cycle we get distance 44.5kms which is close to 45kms i.e we can increase nominal volatage and battery module 

one more unit and we can have our desired result to acheive 45kmss in distance.

now we perform same report for 29 battery module and 358 nominal voltage

carrying out 1st ftp cycle we get distance 17.8kms

carrying out 2md ftp cycle we get distance 35,5kms

carring out 3rd ftp cycle we get distance 47.7kms   

Therefore we can condule that by increasing nominal voltage and battery module to some extent 

we can easily acheive the distance of 45 kms in our simulation.

Perform gradeability test with PRIUS_Jpn_defaults_in file

      Compare your results in table and conclude. 

For gradeability we do not change any parameters in the advisor 

we simply select prius_jpn and choose gradeability option 

and run the simulation.

After selection of gradeability we change some parameters we change the speed and time interval for 4-5 time and conclude the results

first we give speed as 10mph and time interval as 20s

for 20 mph and time interval 30s we get gradeability as 47.4%

next we apply 30mph speeed and 40s as time interval

and we can ovserve that gradeability has decreased to 29.7%

FROM THE FOLLOWING EXAMPLES WE CAN OBSERVE THAT WITH INCREASING SPEED AND TIME INTEVRAL

GRADEABILITY DECREASES GRADUALLY.
