  • The function of the primary beams are to transfer the load of the slab directly to the column that they are resting on.

2.1.

  • The factor and parameters that influence the design pressure intensity of a high rise building.
  • k1 = probablity factor (risk coefficient)

  • k3 = topography factor
  • Design wind pressure - The design wind pressure at any height above mean ground level shall be obtained by the following relationship between wind pressure and wind elasity
  • Pz=0.6v 2

2.2

The load transfer procedure of a reinforced concrete building has been illustrated are,
1.Slab
2.Secondary Beam
3.Primary Beam
4.Columns
5.Foundation

3.1 Oneway slab

i)Ratio of the longer span to the shorter span is greater than 2 is known as one way slab
ii)where LY/LX is greater than 2

Twoway slab
i)Ratio of the longer span to the shorter span is less than 2 as two way slab
ii)Where LY/LX is less than 2

3.2 Secondary beam

i)Secondary beam are the internal beam that are restrained on the primary beam
ii)There are the the simply supported beam
iii)In secondary beam the moment is zero at the end of the beam

3.3
a)For Dead load :IS code 875 part 1
Live load : IS code 875 part 2
Wind load : IS code 875 part 3
Seismic load : IS 13927

b)The parameter of dead load are 1)Unit weight 2)Volume of the section that may be rectangular section, circular section ect,
The parameter of live load are depend on the building type reidential building, commercial building, industrial building, Area type room, toilet room, corriodar, roof, ect,,

c) A load case is a combination of different types of loads with safety factors applied to them.
A Structure is checked for strenth and servicebility against all the load cases it is likely to experience during its lifetime.

3.4
a) Go to property section
Click on define material
Select the section, Rectangular section, circular section ect,,
Select the material type concrete, steel, aluminum
For the rectangular section enter YD and ZD in the column below
Click add and close
Select the material type and assign to the select view

b) Click on support
Click on create
Select the type of support do we want to assign the section
Click on add close

5. First create a simple model by using the node in staad pro
Click on the create beam option and create a beam in the direction of x and z axis
Click at any primary beam in the section
Right click and add new node in the beam section a node will be added
Again click on the create beam

PROJECT

1.

Given;

Building dimension -20m*30m*20m

Building usage - Hospital Block.

Location of the building - Darjeeling.

Step 1:

Caculation design Wind Speed;

We know the formula to calculate the design wind speed that is

Vz=Vb*k1*k2*k3*k4*

where, Vb=Basic Wind Speed (m/sec).

k1= Risk Co-efficient.

we can find the value of Risk co-efficient,k1

from IS Code 875:Part 3 2015, Table 1

k2= Terrain roughness and height factor.

k3=Topography Factor.

k4= Importance factor.

Given data from IS code

Vb=47ms

k1=1.07.

k2=0.8.

k3=1.

k4=1.

CALCULATION;

Vz=Vb*k1*k2*k3*k4

Vz=4.7*1.07*0.8*1.1

Vz=40.23ms

Step 2; calculation of wind pressure:

Pz=0.6*V2z

Pz=0.6*(40.23)2

Pz=971.07N

Pz=0.97117KN.

2.

DEAD LOAD DUE TO SLABS:

Assuming the slab thickness of 150mm.

Dead load due to slabs= length * Breadth* Height* Slabs Thickness

Dead load due to slabs=20*30*25*0.15

Dead load due to slabs =225KN

In the project we have total of five floor slabs therefore

Total dead load due to all the slabs =5*Dead load due to the slabs.

Total dead load due to all the slabs =5*225

Total dead load due to all the slabs=1125KN

DEAD LOAD DUE TO THE BEAMS:

Assume the beams of cross-section 350*450mm.

Dead load due to the beam=Size of the beam* Height .

Dead load due to the beam=0.35*0.45*0.25

Dead load due to the beam=3.94(KN/m)

Dead load due to the beam=4(KN/m)

SUPERIMPOSED LOADS DUE TO THE PARTITION WALLS:

Assuming 150mm thickness of brickwork.

Height of the brickwork =3.75-0.45

Height of brickwork =3.3m.

Therefore, the dead load to the brick masonary partition=3.3*0.15*18

The dead load due to the brick mansonary partition=8.91KN/m.

LIVE LOAD

We can calculate the live load of a given structure by using the IS 875:Part2,which states different live loads values for different rooms.

As our building is the hospital building, the all proposed the live load values for hospital building according to the IS875:Part 3 has been listed below:

OCCUPANCY LIVE LOAD

For ward rooms, dressing rooms,dormitories 2.0*(KN/m2)

and lounges

Kitchen and laboratory 3.0*(KN/m2)

Dinning room and cafeteria 3.0*(KN/m2)

Toilet and bathroom 2.0*(KN/m2)

X-ray rooms and operating Rooms 3.0*(KN/m2)

Office and OPD Room 2.5*(KN/m2)

Carridor and Passages 4.0*(KN/m2)
