Week 3 - 2D meshing for Sheet metal

  1. Open Ansa and open the model.
  2. Assign Material property for the model.
  3. Check for geometry error, by going to Check-Geometry and click execute.
  4. Now it show all the error on the model. Select all and try using Auto Fix command.
  5. Some of them wont auto fix, like cracks and missing area. Try manually fix them.
  6. For Missing face, use offset and match them with existing face using Topo command and remove the single cons and patch them together.
  7. Perform Topo and fine command frequently to get better understanding of model and patching the single cons.
  8. Removal of a triple cons and patching up the single cons.
  9. Finally performing a last geometry check up on the model to see if any part is on error.
  10. Oriental change on some area.
  11. If all good save the model and moving on to dimension check.
  12. Check random dimensions and store the measurement. The dimension for the model is 0.75mm.
  13. Now to create the mid surface for the model of 0.375mm, which is half of the model area.
  14. After making the mid surface for the model. Set new PDI. With a name MS.
  15. As you can see even the main part model has no geometry error. The mid surface has some error expect single cons. We have to ignore single cons for mid surfacing.
  16. Now As the model is a symmetric model, Delete the half area and can be mirrored later after meshing one side.
  17. For Meshing they are some quality criteria needs to set. Use F11 key and set quality criteria.
  18. Mesh Parameters, Target length to 5 and Minimum as 2 and maximum as 7.
  19. Use Mesh-> Best -> Select for meshing method.
  20. As for now work on one side of the model and start removing unnecessary hot points and cons.
  21. Make the meshing the be under 2 to 7 and make every area as rectangular as possible for best output result for meshing.
  22. After completing the meshing on one side using Best -> Select under Mesh Generation tab, Using Reconstruct -> Select & Smooth under Shell Mesh, Cut under Marcus command, Num+/- under Perimeter command and Insert or Delete under Hot Point.
  23. Using all the above command and tools create a best meshing and under all quality criteria conditions.
  24. Use we transform -> copy and use symmetry tab and replace the other half and check if any quality criteria needs to meet and save the file.
  25. This components isn’t completely symmetric, so the alter surface is deleted and reconstruct for meshing and meet all the quality criteria.
  26. Finally save it.
