Week 3 - 2D meshing for sheet metal

in this challenge i learned how to mesh 2D sheet metal.

for this first open the parent geometry in Ansa.

then with the help of property TAB we can select the different part. And mesh on part by part.

1st select the single part for geomerty then do cons resolution - mesh mod lenght 1.

then orientation of the part in one direction from topo module - orient.

after that geometry check up. and fix the errors if any.

measure the thickness of the component.

after that mid surface extraction using offset / mid surface -from topo module.

now hide the parent geometry and keep only the MS. this can be done either by boolean operation or from property manager

assign target length to mid surface

enter mesh parameters and quality criteria.

then do geometrical clean up using cut, release, topo option in topo module. or join and delete unnecessary hotpoints in mesh module. we can even delete the unwanted lines or add lines on the surface with cut option in topo module.

then we can mesh with best/spot mesh option macros - mesh module.

reconstruct the mesh with reconstruct option in shell mesh - mesh module.

we can smooth the mesh by smooth option in shell mesh - mesh module.

manually we can arrange the trias with help of split, paste, collapse, swap , join option in mesh module.

for symmetrical geomerty like inner extract and outer extract as in this model we can 1st delete the half mode and then we can mesh on the other half and then mirror image using transform - copy option.
