Challenge

Week 2 Challenge : Surface meshing on a Pressure valve

Objective:

For the given model, check for the geometrical errors and perform Topology cleanup accordingly. Set three different target lengths as three different cases and mesh the model.

  • Target length = 1mm, 3 mm and 5 mm (i.e. 3 cases)
  • Element type = Tria

Procedure:

1. Given geometry model is imported and geometry check is performed to see the geometry error like single cons, holes, etc.
2. single cons are cleaned up using the new face command which has different sub-option like existing surface, planner, fitted, and coons used to fix at different scenarios.
3. Now with the help of coons (under the new face command )option, other single cons have been removed
4. Different objects are taken and given with different PID's
5. After assigning PIDs correctly, the next step is to generate a mesh of different sizes. In the mesh parameter tab, the target length is set to 5mm, and the element type is set to tria . After that in quality criteria, option min length is set to 3 mm, and max length is set to 5mm. After switching to mesh tab from top tab, length option is selected, to give perimeter and macros to 5 mm.

Geometry cleanup is done using different options like new face option (coons, fitted, etc), cut face, etc., and different PIDs are created and faces are assigned to it. After that 3 mesh size of 5mm, 3mm, and 1mm is generated and saved.
