Week 2:- BiW Fixture Basics Challenge
AIM: - BIW Fixture basic challenge.
1) What is the process of project execution activity?
Ans:- Project activity are basically those activities are been process are bin practice in a general project we I biw fixturing and tooling is involved and its start with basic requirement of the RFQ we receive the customer RFQ is request for quotation we are customers give requirement, specifications, etc. in form of document and data to study and to work on it about it technical offer what would be the commercial offer based on that how were are proceeding to execute that project what would be the time line of that project etc.
Project Activity PROCESS: -

2) What are the types of joining processes?
Ans: - There are different types of biw car part like welding, riveting, gluing and so we discuss about is joining process that very much easy to understand as how the biw part are being joined what methods are being use in current industry.
Brazing and soldering techniques used in industry
Elusive and mechanical fastening of as is use in light weight designs
Introduction: - The durability and performance of any structure is largely dependent on the quality and the design of the component joints.
whole structure cannot be made in one piece.
Two Fundamental option for joining material and component.
+Mechanical Joining.
+ Metallurgical Joining.
Types of joining process: -
Resistance welding, MIG welding, Resistance seam welding, Resistance projection welding, Resistance spot welding, etc.)
2)Mechanical Fastening: - The joint or material combination which cannot be easily welded such as pre-painted steel or very dissimilar metal.
3)Self piercing riveting: - Hemming and sewing are two similar metal working process in which a sheet metal edge is rolled over onto itself.
4)Adhesive Bonding: - Adhesive bonding is used to fasten two surfaces together usually producing a sooth bond.
This are types of Joining Processes.
3)What is Resistance Welding & its application in the automotive sector?
Ans: - Resistance welding is a welding technology widely used in manufacturing industry for joining sheet metal and components.
The weld is made by conducting a strong current through the metal combination to heat up and finally melt the metal's at localized point (s). Predetermined by the design of the electrodes and the workpiece to be welded.
A force is always applied before during and after the application of current to confine the contact area at the weld interface and in some application, to forge the workpiece.
++++ Types of Resistance welding.
Resistance spot Welding.
Resistance seam welding.
Resistance projection welding.
Application of resistance Welding and its used: -
In Welding of aircraft and automobile part. Resistance welding is used for welding process in making fuel tanks of cars, truck, tractors, etc.
Projection welding (a type of resistance welding) is widely used in production of nuts and bolt.

4) What is fusion welding & types of fusion welding with its application in the automotive sector?
Ans: - Fusion Welding: - Fusion welding uses heat and pressure from an arc, laser, or electron beam causes the pieces to melt and mix together. Commonly used in industry such as aerospace or automotive manufacturing, fusion welding can also be useful or general for general repairs around the home or office.
Types of Fusion welding: -
<!-- [if !supportLists]-->1) <!--[endif]-->Arc welding: - The process involves either consumable or a non-consumable electrode (rod or wire).
An arc produced between tip of the electrode and work piece to be welded, by use of an AC or DC power supply.
Types of welding: -
<!-- [if !supportLists]-->1) <!--[endif]-->Manual metal arc welding.
<!-- [if !supportLists]-->2) <!--[endif]-->Gas-Shielded metal arc welding.
<!-- [if !supportLists]-->3) <!--[endif]-->Metal inert gas (MIG) welding
<!-- [if !supportLists]-->4) <!--[endif]-->Submerged arc welding
<!-- [if !supportLists]-->5) <!--[endif]-->Plasma arc welding.
<!-- [if !supportLists]-->2) <!--[endif]-->Projection welding; - Projection welding is a resistance welding process for joining metal components welding process for joining metal component or sheet with embossment by directly applying forces with electrodes specially designed by fit the shapes of the workpiece.
Application: Fusion welding is widely used in automobile sector, car, aerospace industry, automotive manufacturing.
5)What is the 3-2-1 principle?
Ans: - The best and most effective method of part location is referral to as to as the 3-2-1 method.
(3) Minimum three locators block to established part plane three locators or support one are placed under the work piece. The three locators are usually positioned on the primary locating surface. This restricts are one axial movement. To gather the three locators, restrict five degrees of freedom.
(2) Round locating pin in a round hole that defines location in four direction (4-way) Perpendicular to the plane previously established. This restrict four axial movement.
(1) Round locating pin in a slot that defines two of the direction of the other pin (2 – way). This is restricted two axial movement, s.
6)Define Body co-ordinate system.
Ans: - Body co-ordinate system in BIW.
---The body co-ordinate system has been widely used in the automotive industry for drawing of body planes, product, and design.
---- A co-ordinate system is a reference system consisting of a set of the points lines and surface used to define the position of point in space in either two or more three dimensions.
--- In general, BCS is also called as car line and body.

7) Elaborate Body plane system & its essentials.
Ans: - Body planes are the reference plane in an automobile car. These planes are used to define the GD&T of all car parts in an automotive domain.
--- Body planes are 3 mutually perpendicular imaginary planes. These are generally considered to be present at the driver position or something at the engine location or at the engine location or at the front end of the car, depending on the customer.
--- The measurement from the body planes are to the part’s are called as body line dimension.
---These body planes are called as:
*** FOL Front “O” lines.
***COL Center “O” line.
***BOL Body “O” Line.
*** The measurement along FOL or x- axis Is called of F/A front AFT.
*** The measurement along COL or Y axis is called as C/C cross car.
*** The measurement along or Z axis is called U/DOP Down.

Essentials: - Body line dimension are essential for the reason state’s below.
------ It defines the exact position of each product in the vehicle w.r.t a fixed origin.
------- In insure flow less design for assembly.
------ While designing lines all the designs are carried out relative to the body lines viz, fixture turn tables etc.
------- It assists in easy location of different parts in a vehicle.
------ It consists in a creating a standardized system.
----- It assists in a quality check.
