Week 2:- BiW Fixture Basics Challenge
2)TYPES OF JOINING PROCESSES:-
- At the end of the delegates should have understood the details of spot, arc & fusion welding technique traditionally used for steel the the assembly of planes into the body structure.
- Modification procedures required for AI joining.
- Brazing & soldering techniques.
- Adhesive & lightweight design.
Two fundametales options for joining materials & components:-1)Mechanical joining
2)Metallurgical joining
3)Resistance Welding:-
Resistance welding is a welding technology widely used in manufature indutry for joining metals sheets & components. The weld is a made by conducting a strong current through the metal combination to heat up & finally melt the metals at localized poitn(S) predtermined by the desgin of the electrodes & workpiece to be welded.A force is always applied before during & applied the application of current to interfaces & in some application to forge the workpiece.
4)Fusion Welding:-
A processes that uses to join or fuse 2 or more materials by heating them to melting poitn. The processes may or may not require the uses afilter material.
- Types of Fusion welding:-1)Arc welding
- 2)Laser welding
- 3)Oxyfule weldin
- 4)Solid reactant
5)3-2-1 Principal:-
3:-Minimum 3 locator blocks to establish part plane.3 locators,or supports are placed under the workpiece. The 3 locators are usually positioned on the primary locating surface. This restricts one axial moment downward,& 4 radial moments.together 3 locators restrict 5 degree of freedom.
2:-Round locating pin in a round hole that define location in 4 directional (4-way) perpendicular to the plane previously established. This restricts 4 axial movements.
1:-Round locating pin in a slot that define 2 of the direction of the other pin(2-way).This restricts 2 axial movements.
6)Body Co-ordinate System:-
The body co-ordinate system has been widely used in the automotive industry for drowing of body parts, product & process design.A coordinates system is a reference system consisting of a set of point, lines & surface, used to define the position of point in space in either 2 or 3 dimensions. In general BCS is also called car line. The origin of a body coordinates system (OX) is defined at the front center of a vehicle. It indicates a length of car & the coordinates system(OZ) is below its underbody indicates heights of car. & coordu=inates system (OY) its starting poitns is the center of car body indicates width of car.
7)Body Planes:-
Body planes are the reference planes in an automotive car. These planes are used to define the GD and T of all car parts in a automotive domain.Body planes are 3 mutually perpendicul2(ar imaginary planes. These are generally consideration to be present at the driver position or sometime at the engine location or the front end of the car, depending customer. The measurements from the body palnes to the parts are called as bodyline dimensons.
These body planes are called as,
1)FOL front o line
2)COL center o line
3)BOL body o line
4)The measurement along FOL or X axis is called as F/A front aft.
5)The measurement along COL or Y axis is called as C/C cross car.
6)The measurement along BOL or Z axis is called as U/DUP down.
8)Bodyline dimensions are essentials for the reason stated below:-
1)It defines the exact position of product in vehicle w.r.t a fixed origin.
2)It ensure flawless design for assembly.
3)While designing lines, all the designs are carried out relatives to the body line fixtures, turn tables etc.
4)It assist in easy location of different part in vehicle.
5)It aims in creating a standardlized system.
6)It aasists in quality checks.
