Week -2

AAIM : 1) Make a Simulink model of Doorbell using solenoid block

2) TO SENCE THE TEMPERATURE OF A HEATER & TURN OFF OR ON THE FAN USING THERMISTOR

GIVIN CONDITION :

when the switch is closed the electromagnet receives electrical power from the battery and pulls the metal arm to hit the bell producing sound.

Create a situation where the switch is closed for 2 seconds and then released. Observe the physical movement of the plunger.

Make a block diagram of door bell using solenoid block :

SOLENOID : A solenoid is a type of electromagnete formed by a helicall coil of wire whose length is substantially greater than its diameter, which generates a controlled magnetic field . The coil can produce a uniform magnetic field in a volume of space when an electric current is passed through it.

Simulink model of Doorbell using solenoid block

Detailed explanation of the simulink model of door bell using solenoid block

  • Pulse generator : The Pulse Generator block generates square wave pulses at regular intervals. The block waveform parameters, Amplitude, Pulse Width, Period, and Phase delay, determine the shape of the output waveform. The following diagram shows how each parameter affects the waveform.
  • simulink -ps converter : To convey signal conversion while taking up minimal canvas space, the block icon changes dynamically based on whether it is connected to other blocks
  • spst switch : switch is controlled by an external physical signal
  • battery : battery used to give power to closed loop
  • electricatl reference : it shows comnnection to electrical ground
  • solenoid : eletrical characteristics and generated force of solinoid
  • ideal translational motion sensor : it is a motion sensor in mechanical translational systems
  • mechanical translational reference : reference connection for mechanical translational ports
  • solver configuration
  • scope : it displays signals generated during simulstion

THERMISTOR : a thermistor is aresistance thermometer or a resistor whose resistance is dependent on temperature

2)UsING a thermistor to sense the temperature of a heater & turn on or turn off the fan as per the GIVEN conditions

BLOCKS USED

  • SIGNAL BUILDER
  • SIMULINK _PS CONVERTER
  • CONTROLLED TEMPERATURE SOURCE.
  • THERMQATAL RESISTANCE
  • SOLVER CONFIGURATION
  • THERMISTOR
  • BATTERY
  • ELECTRIC REFFERENCE
  • CURRENT SECNSOR
  • PS-SIMULINK CONVERTER
  • DISPLAY
  • CONSTANT
  • SWITCH
  • SCOPE

CONCLUSION :

  • in this way , in the first part , we use solenoid to convert electrical into mechanical energy and made an simulink model into a door bell
  • comint to the second part , we thermistor to sence the temperature , according to ngiven condition , we put the threshold value to the switch to turn on or off the fan
