SIMULINK MODEL OF DOORBELL SOLENOID

SOLENOID:

A solenoid is a 3 dimensional of wire. When this wire is wrapped around a mettallic block in a call and electricity is passed through it, it has some special magnetic properties. Electromagnetic induction makes it an electromagnet that can switched ON or OFF. The solenoid works just like a bar magnet. Where a solenoid operates on electric switch.

1.PULSE GENERATOR: The pulse generator block generates square wave pulse at regular intervels.

2.SIMULINK-PS COVERTER: Converts unitless simulink inputs into physical signals.C

3.SCOPE: Displays signals generated during simulation.

4.SWITCH: Switch controled by external physical signal.

5.BATTERY: It is a simple block models.

6.SOLENOID: Model electrical charactersitcs and gnerated force of solenoid.

7.IDEAL TRANSLATIONAL MOTION SENSOR: Variable measured between two mechanical translational nodes into a center signal proportional to velocity or position.

8.MECHANICAL TRANSLATIONAL REFERENCE: Reference point or frame ,for all mechanical translational ports.

9.ELECTRICAL REFERENCE: Its a electrical ground.

10.SOLVER CONFIGURATION: Its a solver parameters that model need before simulation.

CONNECTIONS:

The pulse generator is used to give signal input and the simulink-ps converter converts the input signal into pysical signal. The electric circuit consists of a solenoid, battery and a switch and are connected accordingly and a mechanical port is connected to ideal translation motion sensor and mechanical translation sensor. The p port of sensor is connected to PS-simulink converter to provide output signal. The solver configuration is connected to electrical reference before the begning of the simulation.

OUTPUT:

Here,The switch is closed for 2 seconds and after the swtich is open. Amplitude = 0 means the switch is closed. And the plunger strikes after every 2 seconds.

QUESTION 2

A thermistor to sense the temperature of a heater & turn on or turn off the fan as per the below conditions:

CONDITIONS:

Temperature source: 20 °C from 0 to 10 seconds, 27 °C from 10 to 30 seconds, 23 °C from 30 to 50 seconds

Fan conditions: ON if the temperature above 25 °C, OFF otherwise

BLOCKS:

1.SIGNAL BUILDER: It is used to build a siganal in a simulink.

2.CONTROLLED TEMPERATURE SOURCE: It is ideal source of thermal energy that is powerful enough to maintain specific temperature differance across the source regardless of heat flow consumed by the system.

3.THERMISTOR : It is thermally sensitive resistor precise change in electrical resistance when subjected to a corresponding change in body temperature.

4.RESISTOR: A passive two-terminal electric component that implements electrical resistance as a circuit element.

5.VOLTAGE SENSOR: A sensor used to calculateand monitor the amount of voltage in an object.

6.SCOPE: Displays signals generated during simulation.

7.SWITCH: Switch controled by external physical signal.

8.CONSTANT: Assign the value.

CONNECTION:

Signal builder is used as a input and the signal is converted by simulink-ps converter. And the controlled temperature is connected with solver configuration. The thermistor is connected with a resister and voltage sensor with battery. electrical reference is connected to the circuit. with the ps-simulink converter the signal is connected with a switch with two constant and output is observed using a scope.

OUTPUT:

Fan condition is ON when the temperature is above 25 degree celcious.
