Week -2

  1. Make a Simulink model of Doorbell using solenoid block with the following details:

Aim:

To Make a Simulink model of Doorbell using solenoid block and create a switch which is closed for 2sec and then released.

Explanation:

  • Select a solenoid block and connect the battery to the electrical part and connect the ideal translation motion sensor to the mechanical part.
  • Connect electrical reference and mechanical reference to each parts.
  • Use battery and connect the battery + to the switch and connect the battery - to the electrical reference.
  • Connect the pulse generator and switch through Simulink PS converter. Whereas one is simscape and the other one is simulink. So the use the converter to connect both.
  • In mechanical part connect the resistor of solenoid to the Ideal translational motion Sensor R.
  • Then Connect the Ideal translational motion Sensor C to the solenoid C.
  • Then use solver configuration to solve the model and connect it to either mechanical or electrical part.
  • The physical signal ports V and P report the velocity and position, respectively, of port R relative to port C. The measured velocity is positive when the velocity at port R is greater than the velocity at port C.
  • Use Scope block and connect the signal ports P and V through PS-Simulink Converter.
  • For electrical click the scope which connected o the pulse generator and check the result.
  • And for mechanical part click the scope which connected to the deal translational motion Sensor P and V.

Result:

The Simulink model of Doorbell using solenoid block and Switch is created.

2. Use a thermistor to sense the temperature of a heater & turn on or turn off the fan as per the below conditions:

Aim:

To use a thermistor to sense the temperature of a heater & turn on or turn off the fan for various values.

Explanation:

  • Use signal builder to thermistor to sense the temperature.
  • Connect signal builder to the controlled temperature source and connect it through Simulink PS Converter.
  • Connect the output of controlled temperature source (B) to the thermistor (A).
  • Connect (A) of controlled temperature source to the thermal reference.
  • Then add Battery and coonect the positive terminal of the battery to thermistor psitive.
  • And negative terminal of the battery to electrical refernce.
  • Connect negative of thermistor to positive of resistor.
  • And negative of the resistor o volatage sensor negative.
  • And connect the positive of Voltage sensor to the positive of resistor.
  • Use solver configuration to find the configuration.
  • Connect the voltage sensor to scope through PS-Simulink converter.
  • Use a switch and connect the inputs to constant 0 and 1. Then connect the center input to the scope.
  • Then connect the output of the switch to a scope.
  • Then adjust the time and temperatureaccording to the program in signal Builder.
  • Where 20 °C from 0 to 10 seconds, 27 °C from 10 to 30 seconds, 23 °C from 30 to 50 seconds Fan conditions: ON if the temperature above 25 °C.

Result:

Therefore the thermistor to sense the temperature of a heater & turn on or turn off the fan for various values has been outputed.
