Week -2

Q-1.) Make a Simulink model of Doorbell using a solenoid block with the following details:

In the above arrangement, when the switch is closed the electromagnet receives electrical power from the battery and pulls the metal arm to hit the bell producing sound.

  • Create a situation where the switch is closed for 2 seconds and then released. Observe the physical movement of the plunger.
  • Assume remaining parameters.

Aim:

To making a doorbell using solenoid block.

Object:

In a doorbell, the model creates a situation where the switch is closed for 2 seconds and then released.

Using Block Logic:

  • In the above model preparing we use different block set like:
  • Pulse generator, use to generate the pulse signal to switch
  • Battery, use to supply the solenoid to energize.
  • switch, is used for ON or OFF
  • solenoid, is used to vibration of ringing doorbell
  • motion sensor is used to sense the output of solenoid.
  • I can use stop time:10sec

Scope/Output result:

Observation:

We observed the above model working where the switch is closed for 2 seconds and then released.

Conclusion:

We simulate the doorbell model using the Simulink block set and the result is satisfactory.

Q/2. Use a thermistor to sense the temperature of a heater & turn on or turn off the fan as per the below conditions:

Temperature source: 20 °C from 0 to 10 seconds, 27 °C from 10 to 30 seconds, 23 °C from 30 to 50 seconds

Fan conditions: ON if the temperature above 25 °C, OFF otherwise.

Aim: -To create a model using a thermistor to sense the temperature of a heater & turn on or turn off the fan.

Objective: 20 °C from 0 to 10 seconds, 27 °C from 10 to 30 seconds, 23 °C from 30 to 50 seconds and Fan conditions: ON if the temperature above 25 °C, OFF otherwise.

Using Block Logic:

  • Signal builder-to generate the signal according to the i/p condition given.
  • PS-Simulink converter- converts Simulink signal to physical signal.
  • CTS-Provide a temp. physical o/p based on the condition given to port S.
  • Thermal Reference-this block provides the required initial condition to the connected thermal block for the solver.
  • Thermistor-this block shows the NTC thermistor relation between temp. resistance.
  • Battery-that provides required voltage based on the parameter given.
  • Resistor- it provides the opposing nature of the current In circuit.
  • Voltage sensor-it measured voltage of the electrical component.
  • Electrical Reference-this block will provide the required initial condition to the connected thermal block for the solver.
  • Solver conf.-This block specific the solver parameters that the model needs before beginning simulation and this is mandatory for all Simscape designs.
  • PS-Simulink converter- It converts physical signal to respective Simulink signal.
  • Constant-constant o/p value.
  • Switch-it is the 3 port switch port1, port 2, port3.
  • Scope-This block shows the o/p result.

Condition:0 to 10 sec—20deg=273+20=293k,10 to 30 deg=27deg=273+27=300k,30 to50—23deg=273+23=296k.

  • I can use stop time:10sec
  • Scope/Output result:

Observation:

We observed the above model working where the temp reached 25 deg. the switch is ON otherwise OFF and also satisfies the condition.

Conclusion:

We simulate the thermistor to sense the temperature of a heater & turn on or turn off the fan

and we get the result is satisfactory.
