Q1) Door Bell

The objective of question 1 is to build a Door bell model which has to operate in a given condition. The model is built in a simulink interface using simscape and simulink blocks. The built model is shown below.

Door bell model is built using a solenoid block. The solenoid has electromagnetic characteristics where the coiled wire is surrounded by a metal piston. The piston moves forward and backward by the electromagnetic field.

  • The positive side of the solenoid block is connected to the one side of the switch and the negative side is connected to the positive side of the battery.
  • R port is connected to the ideal translational motion sensor and C port is connected to the same sensor's C port.
  • The negative side of the battery is connected to one side of the switch.
  • The pulse generator is used to generate a pulse width for the respected model. Based on the threshold value switch operates here.
  • Solver block is connected to the solenoid connection. Parameters are set in the solver block.
  • Solenoid connection is grounded by using the electric reference block.
  • Ideal translational sensor is grounded using the mechanical translational reference.

Final result is measured using the scope block.

As per the condition the switch is closed for 2 seconds, so the metal piston in the solenoid valve moves from port R to C that provides the plunger to move and rang the bell. The above scope results show the pulse width wave.

Q2) Thermistor

Objective of this question is to build a thermistor model as per the given inputs.

The model is built in the Simulink interface using simscape blocksets. Signal builder block is used to provide input values to the controlled temperature source.

The controlled temperature source provides the thermal energy. The temperature difference is set by the physical signal port S. A positive temperature difference causes the temperature at port B to be greater than the temperature at port A.

The port B of the temperature source is connected to the thermistor A.

The model built is shown below
