Challenge

Week 12:Project 2-Meshing of Rear Wheel Holder challenge

Objective:

To create midsurface and mesh the midsurface which achieve the threshold quality criteria values.

Procedure:

Midsurface:

As given in the problem initially we have to remove the surface area which are unable to be captured for the given quality criteria.

Before that midsurface for the given CAD model is obtained.

The Steps involved are,

Geometry-> midsurface-> autoextraction -> offsets+planes+sweeps -> extract.

Offset+planes+sweeps option is used to extract the good quality of midsurface using autoextraction tool.

The obtained midsurface is cleaned up manually using quick edits and other tools in the "Geometry" option.

After cleanup as mentioned in the problem the small features are defeatured using following steps involved,

the small features are deleted using delete surface option. Then later the deleted area creates a hole which are supposed to be filled. Filler surface option in quick edits tool is used to fill the hole areas.

These filled areas create separate surface parallel are inplane to the existing surface. Still the features can't be captured by the element, thus these areas are toggled.

Meshing:

Automesh tool is used to mesh the extracted midsurface. the mesh flow is monitor while meshing and quality criteria are checked for the elements created.

Quality index tool is used to optimize the failing elements. Also rebuild mesh tool is used when the elements are unable to be optimized using quality index tool.

Result:

The required elements for the extracted midsurafce with clearing all the quality criteria as mentioned above.

Also the low tria concentration is maintained.

No elements created are failing.
