Week-11 Challenge: Braking
CHALLENGE 1:
-To calculate braking energy for a defined cycle.
Solution:
-We know that in a vehicle the amount of power required for acceleration and deceleration are same. The power required for braking can be calculated

Output:
For a defined cycle the brake energy was calculated and the results were obtained.
CHALLENGE 2:
AIM:
To understand why electric motors cannot devolop braking torque at higher speed similar to starting and to compare mechanical and electircal braking.
Solution:
-We know that during acceleration the motor requires an initial torque to raise from zero to higher speed. But on the other hand during deceleration ,the motor which is already running at higher speed and also is at high torque will not be able to develop further torque. The below graph explians it .

-To know how mechanical and electrical brakes are co-ordinated:
-Mechanical brakes which consits of assembled mechanical components which are mainly used to slow down or stop shaft in the equipment drives. They amke use of levers or linkages from one point to another.

-There are two brake control statergies:
-Series braking system:
-Series braking system consist of a braking controller which controls the braking forces on the front and rear wheel. The purpose of this statergy is to minimise stoping distance and give optimize the driver feel. The shortest braking distance and good braking feel requires the brake force on front and rear wheel to follow ideal brake force distribution.
-The main principle of series braking system is to recover the braking energy as much as possible in the condition of meeting the total braking force for tyhe given deceleration.
-Parallel braking system:
-Parallel braking system includes both electrical and mechanical braking system which produces braking force in parallel and simultaneously. This kind of braking system has a conventional mechanical braking which has a fixed ratio of brake force distribution on front and back wheel.
Result:
-electrical and mechanical cordination are explained above.
CHALLENGE 3:
AIM:
To create a MATLAB program which plots the contour for the given motor speed ,torque and efficiency values.
SOLUTIONS:
The coding is as follows:

-Output at the workspace:

-Plot output:

-Result:
-The program was succesfully executed and the output was obtained.
