Week 11 Car Crash simulation

Week 11 Car Crash simulation

AIM

To run the Explicit dynamics analysis for Mechanism Car Crash simulation on a total of 3 different cases with change in thickness condition terms and provide the inference on the output.

Objective

To find and compare the results of Equivalent stress, directional deformation, Equivalent elastic strain in all cases.

For this challenge, you will have to perform a parametric study using 3 different values of thickness for the car body. You need to apply the same conditions as mentioned in the video that corresponds to this challenge.Analyse the total deformation and Equivalent stresses acting on the model.

CASE 1 3MM thickness

CASE 2 4MM thickness

CASE 3 5MM thickness

In all cases thickness can be varry

CASE 1 3MM thickness

Import the model.

select the material.

structural steel for wall

And strainless steel NL for car body.

Also add thickness to it as 3MM

Mesh the component with mesh option.

Use method option for 2d is trianglar

Use method option for 3d is tetrahedral

And make face sizing of 200mm

Analysis setting

End time step = 1e-2

fixed support

displacement

z = 500

Use symmentry

CASE 1

Thickness of 4mm

Import the model.

select the material.

structural steel for wall

And strainless steel NL for car body.

Also add thickness to it as 4MM

Mesh the component with mesh option.

Use method option for 2d is trianglar

Use method option for 3d is tetrahedral

And make face sizing of 200mm

Analysis setting

End time step = 1e-2

fixed support

displacement

z = 500

Use symmentry

CASE 1

Thickness of 5mm

Import the model.

select the material.

structural steel for wall

And strainless steel NL for car body.

Also add thickness to it as 5MM

Mesh the component with mesh option.

Use method option for 2d is trianglar

Use method option for d is tetrahedral

And make face sizing of 200mm
