Week 11-3D Tetra Meshing Challenge
MODEL 1
AIM: To perform tetra mesh on the given housing component by the method of 2D mesh to 3D
mesh
PROCEDURE:
1. Model in step file is imported to the hyper mesh.
2. Model is checked for missing sufaces or deformations.
3. Geometric clearance is done to avoid mesh failure due to minimum length criteria.

4.Quality criteria for the mesh is provided (Min length, max length and Target length)
5.From 2D mesh option, suface is selected for meshing and only tria mesh is selected
6.Meshing is done seperately in two collectors.
7. All the failed elements both max length failure and min length failures are corrected
by using mesh cleanup tools(place node and element optimization)

8. After 2D meshing, from the 3D option tetra mesh option is selected.
9. From this option , in tetra mesh option tet collpase value is given and from tetra
mesh option by selecting the elements , tetra mesh is created.

10. From tool option, check elem option is selected and the elements failing for tet
collapse criteria is checked bu providing the value.
11. The failed elements are corrected by using distance and tetra remesh option.

MODEL 2
AIM: To perform Tetra mesh on the given component by using volume mesh option.
PROCEDURE:
1.Model in IGES format is imported to the hypermesh.
2.Model is checked for deformations or missig surfaces.
3.Geometric clearance is done on the model by providing the target element to avoid error
in meshing.

4.volume mesh from tetra mesh option in 3D by selecting the whole solid is used to
perform tetra mesh directly.
5.Target element length and tet collpase value is provided before meshing .

6.Tet collapse are formed during meshing, this is corrected by using tetra remesh and
distance options
Failed Elements

Zero tet collapse

MODEL 3
AIM: To perform tetra mesh on the given component by volume tetra mesh method.
PROCEDURE:
1.The model file in IGES format is imported to hypermesh.
2.Model is checked for any surface deformation ,missing or topology errors.
3.Model is organised in 5 collector and the meshing will be conducted respect to each
collector.

4.Component in each collector is selected and the defromations, missing and topology
errors are checked.
5.Automatic geometric cleanup is done by providing the target element length to reduce
tet collapse error from 2D

6.Tetra meshing is done by using volume tetra option from tetra mesh option in 3D by
selecting surface frim volume tetra panel.
7.Target element length and tet collpase value is provided before meshing.
