Week 10 - Challenge 3 - Door Trim Lower with Engineering Features

Aim : - Create a Door trim lower with heat steak and locater.

Tools Used : - Catia V5.

Most frequnetly used commands : - Sweep, Split, Union Trim.

Theory.

Class A : -

In automotive desgin, a class A surface is any of a set of freeform Surface of high efficiency and quality. Although, strictly, it is nothing more than saying the surfaces have curvature and tangency alignment – to ideal aesthetical reflection quality, many people interpret class A surfaces to have G2 (or even G3) curvature continuity to one another .Class A surfacing is done using Computer aided industrial desin applications. Class A surface modellers are also called "digital sculptors" in the industry. Industrial Desgin develop their design styling through the A-Surface, the physical surface the end user can feel, touch, see etc.

The Given class a is as follows

Step 1. Class B creation.

Create a Class B by offseting the class by 3 mm which is thickness of plastic product. then repair the surface so it is exact replica of class A.

Step 2. Tooling axis.

Create a tooling axis. So that the part can be manufacture, for that create a line point and direction

Step 3 Class C Creation

Create flanges from class A . Give draft angle to the surface which are perpendicular to the tooling axis. and 90 deg draft to the surface parallel to tooling axis.

then trim and join all the flanges like the imae below

Step 4 Final trim

Trim class C and class b to create a closed surface and then using close surface command create solid body

Step 5 Heat stake

Create heat stake . a cylindrical feature with melts to join other surface. on every point
