Week 10 Bullet penetrating a Bucket Challenge

Week 10 Bullet penetrating a Bucket Challenge

AIM

To run the Explicit dynamics analysis for Mechanism Bullet penetrating a Bucket on a total of 3 different cases with change in material condition terms and provide the inference on the output.

Objective

To find and compare the results of Equivalent stress, directional deformation, Equivalent elastic strain in all cases.

For this challenge, you will have to simulate a bullet penetrating into a bucket. You will need to use 3 different non linear materials for the bucket and analyse their behaviour for the same velocity of bullet. Apply the conditions for bullet as mentioned in the video itself. Upload animation files to show the behaviour in the three cases.

CASE 1 ALUMINUM ALLOY NL

CASE 2 copper alloy nl

CASE 3 magnessium alloy nl

For all 3 case use non linear materials for the bucket and material for bullet is tantalum

CASE 1 ALUMINUM ALLOY NL

Import the model.

select the material.

material for bullet is tantalum ( From the material librery in Explicit dynamics )

stiffness behavior as rigid

material for bucket is aluminum alloy nl

Mesh the component with mesh option.

mesh by edge sizing of 6mm.

Analysis setting

End time step = 1e-2

maximun energy error = 6

fixed support

velocity

CASE 2

Copper alloy nl

Import the model.

select the material.
