Week 10- Assembly Workbench

Report on Model 1 CV joint

The CV joint consists of three components, their part design is made from the given drawings.

going into the assembly workbench all the three components are imported into the workbench using EXISTING COMPONENT command.

A part is inserted as a skeleton element which forms the origin of the assembly, all the reference planes, the reference point and their axis centre lines of all components are published.

BODY 2, A single component holding two cross cylinders is coincided with the fixed skeleton element reference point arresting all 12 degrees of freedom

One of the axis lines of the two Cross cylinders are coincided with other axis lines of the Body 2,a plane of the cross cylinder is offset with the plane of the body 2.hence the cross cylinders are given only 1 degree of freedom that is rotation along the axis coinciding the body 2.

The other axis line of the cross cylinders is coincided with the other axis line of the body 3 and the plane of the cross cylinders is coincided with other plane of the body 3.hence arresting the degrees of freedom of the Body 3 to only rotation along the coinciding axis with other two Cross cylinders.

Body 1 is fully arrested,Body 2 has only one rotational freedom and Body 3 also has only one rotational freedom.

Report on Model 2 quick return mechanism

Model 2 consists of 5 bodies, their part design is made according to the given drawings.

All the five components are imported into the assembly workbench using the command existing component.

The reference planes, reference point and the reference axis of all the components are published.

skeleton element is created which forms the origin of the assembly.

from the drawing of the body one it is found that body one is at a distance of 34.6mm from the origin of the assembly.

Skeleton element is fixed arresting all 12 degrees of freedom.

body 1 and body 2 axis lines are coincided

planes of body 2 and skeleton element are offset at 34.6 mm

planes of body 1 frame and body 3 slider are coincided.

axis of body 3 slider and one of the hole of body 4 are coincided.

axis line of other hole of body 4 is coincided with axis line of body 5.

axis line of body 5 is given an offset distance with the Z axis of skeleton element
