Challenge

Week 1 Stress Concentration on a Plate with hole

in this challenge there is a 2 cases for the solve the solution for designing the 2 models i used the space time with above mentioned dimension

case 1

Length=300mm
Height=120mm
Thickness=30mm

circular hole at the center

diameter=30mm

after designing i meshed the plate with 7mm size with tetrahedrons and I provided material for components as default material that is structural steel

then I applied fixed support and load as per given instructions to solve solution after that I getten total deformation and equivalent stress to get the solution click the solve in solution.

by above 2 stress and deformation show clear that the comparision between centraled hole plate and three hole plate

total deformation :

maximum: 0.0002746 0.00029717

minimum: 0 0

stress:

maximum: 0.60784 0.58862

minimum : 0.020958 0.0029558

conclusion:

from the above two comparision

for analysis point of view 1 preffered 3 holed plate because maximum stress developed in 3 plate hole is minimum compared with single hole plate

2. from manufacturing point of view I preffered the single hole plated hole because making three holes is heavy time taking and many more for different sized holes.
