Usage of Collaborate tool in REVIT
Question 1) Open an architectural template. Using the Manage tab set project base point and project shared coordinates for the project.
AIM: To open an architectural template. Using the Manage tab set project base point and project shared coordinates for the project.
INTRODUCTION: In this section we will learn about the project base point and the project shared coordinates for the project.
PROCEDURE:
- In order to create architectural template using the manage tab to set the project base point and project shared co-ordinates. First of all we have to go to the Autodesk Revit software.
- From there there is an option called the New to create the architectural template click on that option as shown in the below figure:

- Just after clicking the option New a new dialouge box opens up named New project and from that dialouge box click on the Architectural option and then click on OK. Just as seen in the be below figure:

- This is how we can create the new architectural project in the Revit software.
- So now after creating the New Architectural template just go to the new drawing space.
- After that Just save that file in the Save As option.
- To save the file just go to the File tab and from there click on the Save As option and after clicking on the Save as option just as shown in the below figure:

- Now a new dialouge box opens asking for the file name. In that box write an appropriate File name. Here i am taking the file name as "Challenge-06". And then click on the option Save, as shown in the below figure:

- Now the file is saved. So after saving the file just go to the Architecture tab click on that tab and from there tab click on the Datum block and in that block just click on the Grid option as shown in the below figure:

- After clicking on the Grid button just draw the grids on the drawing space just as shown in the below image:

- Draw the horizontal and the vertical grids just as shown in the above figure.
- After creating horizontal and the vertical grid renamed the grids as 1 and A respectively as shown in the below figure:
- Now after naming the grids,go to the Manage tab and then the project location tab click on the middle option in the project location box. The middle tab is known as the coordinates. So click on that option just as shown below the image:

- After that move the cursor to the grid line 1 and then click on that line.
- A new dialouge box appears on the screen named as specify shared coordinates. In that dialouge box, there is a box named East/West in that box put 0'0". and then press enter.

- Move the cursor to the grid line A and then click on that line.
- A new dialouge box appears on the screen named as specify shared coordinates. In that dialouge box, there is a box named North/South in that box put 0'0". and then press enter.

- After this type VG then a new dialouge box opens named Visibility/Graphics in that dialouge box just go to the option Site from there just check the option Project Base Point and then click on the OK as shown in below figure:

- After clicking the OK button a project base point appears on the screen.
- Just drag that base point to the middle of the grid lines and the project base point and the project shared coordinate have been set using the manage tab as shown in the below result:

Question 2) Open another new file but with a structural template. Using the manage tab set project parameters the same as the architectural model. Copy the parameters from the architectural model to the structural template or enter the parameters manually into the structural model.
AIM: Open another new file but with a structural template. Using the manage tab set project parameters the same as the architectural model. Copy the parameters from the architectural model to the structural template or enter the parameters manually into the structural model.
INTRODUCTION: In this question we will study about using the structural template using the manage tab set project parameters. And also how to copy the parameters from the architectural model to the structural template or enter the parameters manually into the structural model.

- A new dialouge box opens on the screen as the collaborate dialouge box as shown in the below figure:

- Here click on the Within your Network.
- And then click on the OK.
- After that just save the file as the Central model.
- A new warning appears on the screen as shown in the below figure:

- Click on the Yes option.
- And the file is saved as the Central Model.

- From that dialouge box add the desired file as shown in the below figure:

- Click on the open and then in the manage link option click on OK.
- After that go to the Collaborate tab from there click on the option Copy/Monitor tab as shown in the below figure.
- In that option click on the Select Link option.

- After that click on the finish tab.
- Now the grid has been copied to the structural model,as seen in the below image:

Question 8) Create another new file with a construction template. Save the new file as a central model. This file will include both architectural and structural model. Under the manage tab, Click manage links to link both architectural and structural files. Save the file and close all the files.

Question 9) Are the grids from structural and architectural model matching in the construction template created? If yes the model is set up for project 2. If not work on the shared parameters and linking options under Manage links
( Hint: origin to origin, by shared coordinates or by project base point to base point ) to link the models in an appropriate manner.
Answer. Yes, the grids from structural and architectural model matching in the construction template created. Because i have used the option Copy/Monitor.
Question 10) List a flow chart of a project tree set up in terms of Construction model, Architecture & Structure model, in this exercise and understand how many people can work on the same project using Revit simultaneously.
Answer. Construction model:
(i) Architectural modeling
(ii) Structural modeling
(i) Architectural modeling:
- Modelling of the walls.
- Modeling of the doors, windows and the ventilators
