Usage of Collaborate tool in REVIT
1) Open an architectural template. Using the Manage tab set project base point and project shared coordinates for the project
AIM :
To set project base point and project shared co-ordinates for the project.
PROCEDURE :
To create a project shared co ordinates,
- Open archietectural tab,
- Open manage tab,
- Click on project co-ordinates and then specific shared co-ordinates.
- in North/South type 0'0"
- in East/West type 0'0" .

To create project base points
- Select archietectural tab , select grids and draw the grids.
- Rename the grids
- Select mange tab, select specify co ordinates @ a point and select one grid and specify 0'0"
- select specify co ordinates @ a point and select another grid and specify 0'0"

RESULT :
The project base points and project shared co-ordinates are created.
2) Open another new file but with a structural template. Using the manage tab set project parameters the same as the architectural model. Copy the parameters from the architectural model to the structural template or enter the parameters manually into the structural model
AIM ;
To create structural template with the same parameters as archietectural project template.
PROCEDURE :
- Open a new file
- Click on structural template,

- Go to manage tab > project coordinates > shared coordinates

- in the North/South type 0'0"
- in the East/West type 0'0"

RESULT :
The project parameters are created in structural plan
3) Re-open the architectural model. Using the tools under the Collaborate tab make the architectural model a central model (enabling simultaneous working on the model)
AIM :
To create archietectural model a central model using collabrate tool.
PROCEDURE :
- Open a archietectural template file in revit
- select collabrate tab and select the collabrate,

- Two option will appear on the screen
- select the option within the network and press ok
RESULT ;
The archietectural model is made central model using collabrate tool.
4) Create the Grids Longitudinal and Transverse pattern for the project similar to the task done in Week 2
AIM :
To craete grids in longitudinal and transverse pattern
PROCEDURE :
- Open a archietectural template file in revit
- Go to archietectural tab>datumtab>grids
- Draw a grids in transverse and longitudinal directiion according to plan of the project
- Rename the grids as per standards.

RESULT :
The grids are drawn.
5) Synchronize the changes from the local copy to the central file of the architectural model.
AIM :
Synchronize the changes from the local copy to the central file of the architectural model.
COMMANDS USED:
Manage and synchronize tab .
PROCEDURE :
- Open a file in revit
- Select manage tab and synchronise tab and click ok

- The drawing will be synced with central file

RESULT :
The synchronize is done.
6) Open the structural model and use the collaborate tools to save the model as a central file.
AIM :
Open the structural model and use the collaborate tools to save the model as a central file.
PROCEDURE :
- Open a structural template in revit
- Select the collabrate tab and select collabrate

- Select the collabrate within your network save it as saving for the first time it will make a centre file
- then synchronize with central and modify
RESULT :
The model is synchronized.
7) Under the Collaborate tab, select the grids and levels from the architectural model, and using Copy Monitor try to copy the grids to the structural model. See what happens when the copy monitored grid is moved around in the structural model
AIM ;
Using Collaborate tab, select the grids and levels from the architectural model and copy it to structural model using copy moniter
COMMANDS USED:
Colloborate, copy moniter, select link and copy
PROCEDURE :
- Open the archietectural tab, select colloborate tab select copy moniter, and select link so my structural drawing is linked.

- select the grids and levels and select multiple and select copy
- select the finish command
- open structural template file and grids and columns will be found in structural template
RESULT :

8) Create another new file with a construction template. Save the new file as a central model. This file will include both architectural and structural model. Under the manage tab, Click manage links to link both architectural and structural files. Save the file and close all the files.
AIM :
To create a new file with a construction template which include both archietectural and structural model
COMMANDS USED:
Manage, manage links
PROCEDURE :
- Open a new file , save it as construction template

- Select collaborate tab and colloborate the file as a central file
- select manage tab and select link
- Select both archietectural and structural template and press ok

- Both the file will be opened in a combined file
RESULT :
Created a construction template.

9) Are the grids from structural and architectural model matching in the construction template created? If yes the model is set up for project 2. If not work on the shared parameters and linking options under Manage links
( Hint: origin to origin, by shared coordinates or by project base point to base point ) to link the models in an appropriate manner
AIM :
Insert the grids from structural template to archietectural template and check whether it is matching with each other
PROCEDURE :
- Open archietectural template and select manage tab
- in the manage tab select the manage link andthe structural template drawing
- Both the grids will appear in arc template

- and it is not coinciding
- select the arch grids select the aquire coordinates and select the arch template grid
- select the position icon and click the relocate position and select the intersection point of the grids
- The grids will be positioned

RESULT :
My structural and archietectural model are coinciding in the construction template created , therefore week 6 challange is set upto project 2.
10) List a flow chart of a project tree set up in terms of Construction model, Architecture & Structure model, in this exercise and understand how many people can work on the same project using Revit simultaneously
For construction model the project tree is as,
- site access
- logistics and storage
- quality control
- outstanding contract details
- outsatnding dfesign related challanges
- health and safety
For Archietectural model,
- schematic design
- design development
- construction documents
- bidding
- construction adminintration
For structural model,
- The primary objective structural analysis and design to produce a structure capable of resisting all applied loads without failure during its intended life. if improperly designed elements of a structure would fail causing serious consequences such as large expenses
- Once the archietectural engineer sets the function and layout of the structure , the role of structural engineer begins which can be summerised in the following steps to develop a safe fumctional and economic structures.
