Underbody Coating

UNDERBODY COATING:

               Under body coating is usually a dense cladding applied uniformly to the under carriage of the automobile. It is normally sparyed (or) pained on when the car is just out of the dealership and is clean.

                                         

              It Provides long term protection from corrosion to car's underbody. It also protects parts like body parts, frame rails and other parts.

DIFFERENT TYPES OF UNDERBODY COATING:

           Underbody coating are categorised into based on the type of materials used and also the cost of the materials.

      1. RUBBERIZED UNDERBODY COATING:

                        These coating are easy to apply and offer sound-cushioning as well as protection from dust,moisture and dents. The coating are safe even to use on wheel wells and quater panels and when it's  dired forms a soft rubbery  finish that prevents further rust and moisture seep.

      2. POLYURETHANE UNDERBODY COATING:

                       This type of underbody coating is a little a bit quicker and easy to apply. this type of underbody coating often comes in a canister ready to perload into application gun. This type of underbody coating always requires surface preparations before applyling.

      3. WAX (OR) PARAFFIN-BASED UNDERBODY COATING:

                        Wax or paaffin-based underbody coating will be the cheapest and quickest option avaliable in the market. But these coating last only for one year of duration.

      4.ASPHALT-BASED UNDERBODY COATING:

                        The above-mentioned undercoating is mainly used for light commericial vechicles. For vechicle such as trucks,buses,vans,etc. Asphalt-based undercoating is used for sufficient protection aganist rock chips and moisture. These asphalt-based under coating have a little bit of rubberised material that setup firmly and also helps in reduction in noise.

OVERALL ADVANTAGES OF UNEDRBODY COATING:

           1.It minimizes the sound from underneath the car.

           2.It insulates the interior of the car from the extreme temperature from beneath the vechicle.

           3.The coating does not chip away when hit by stones.

OVERALL DIS-ADVANTAGES OF UNDERBODY COATING:

           1.Cost of the coating is still expensive.

           2.Care mut be taken while applyling underbody coating. This thick rubberised paint if not applied properly, can get into moving mechanical parts and cause premuture failure,such as into the U-joints and otheer joints in a car .
