Tool Test 1

TOOLTEST PLASTIC MESHING 2D

Aim : 2D meshing for Plastic components using ANSA preprocessor

Software used : ANSA.

procedure :

step 1: Open the CAD geometry inside ANSA GUI and set the solver deck to NASTRAN.

step 2: GO to geometry check and check for any unjoined surfaces and surface irregularities.

step 3: Join all the surfaces using TOPO ( CONS>TOPO)

step 4: Switch to mesh model and select entities in the capture window and set the element sell lenghth 2.

step 5: Orient the FE model (Faces>orient>select).

step 6 : Now go to TOPO module and extract the midsurface of the CAD geometry.(Faces>midsurface>skin)

step 7: Now check for any free edges in geometry and make them cons using topo.

step 8: give the element shell size to 0.5 (mesh> perimetres>length).

step 9: Now switch to mesh module and delete unnecessary cons using cut and reconstruct the surface with new cons.

srep 10: Start meshing the faces by maintaing continuty using (mesh generation>Best).

step 11: Adjust the mesh if any opposit trias exist join them using split, reconstruct, smooth.

step 12: Now go to mesh quality check (checks>mesh>mesh quality>quality criteria) and set the quality criteria then exicute.

step 13: If there are any elements failing for quality try to do changes in cons and hotpoints.

step 14: After reconstructing mesh and removing all errors save the model.

step 15: Again check for quality and ON shell as soild (presentation parameters >shell as solid ON).

step 16: Save the model.

SHEETMETAL 2D MESHING

Aim : 2d meshing of sheet metal using ANSA preprocessor

Software used : ANSA.

procedure :

step 1: Open the CAD geometry inside ANSA GUI and set the solver deck to NASTRAN.

step 2: GO to geometry check and check for any unjoined surfaces and surface irregularities.

step 3: Join all the surfaces using TOPO ( CONS>TOPO).

step 4: Switch to mesh model and select entities in the capture window and set the element sell lenghth 2.

step 5: Orient the FE model (Faces>orient>select).

step 6 : Now go to TOPO module and extract the midsurface of the CAD geometry.(Faces>midsurface>skin)

step 7: Now check for any free edges in geometry and make them cons using topo.

step 8: give the element shell size to 2 (mesh> perimetres>length).

step 9: Now see for it is symmetric or not if the midsurface is symmetric select it and delete the half of the section using delete faces.

step 10: Now switch to mesh module and delete unnecessary cons using cut and reconstruct the surface with new cons.

srep 11: Start meshing the faces by maintaing continuty using (mesh generation>Best).

step 12: Now go to mesh quality check (checks>mesh>mesh quality>quality criteria) and set the quality criteria then exicute.

step 13: If there are any elements failing for quality try to do changes in cons and hotpoints.

step 14: After reconstructing mesh and removing all errors save the model.

step 15: Reflect the meshed midsurface ( copy>symmetry>reflect above 3 mirror points).

step 16: Again check for quality and save the model.
