AIM : To setup model for RC building design and based on the given parameters for cover.

PROCEDURE :

  • Open the tekla software and create a new file
  • Go the setting option and open the structure defaults
  • First select the S.S.L and edit the nominal cover option
  • Enter the given values as per the given question
  • Beam - 30, Column - 50, Walls - 25, Slabs - 30, Pad bases - 50, Pile caps - 75
  • Next change the default type T.O.F
  • Enter the given values as per the given question
  • Beam - 25, Column - 40, Walls - 25, Slabs - 25, Pad bases - 50, Pile caps - 75

RESULT :

As per the question, the setup for RC building design based on given parameters for nominal cover has been done.

2. Model grids as per the attachment 2,2.1 and 2.2

AIM : To Model grids as per the given attachment 2,2.1 and 2.2

PROCEDURE :

  • Create the grid on the above created file
  • Based on the given 2D plan file attachment
  • Take the dimension value of the given plan
  • Next go to the model tab and select the grid
  • select the grids and draw on the screen
  • And use the quick parallel option to make other grids with correct dimensions
  • The created grids are given below

RESULT : As per the question, Grids are sucessfully arranged by using given attachment 2, 2.1 and 2.2

3. Study the layout and write a summary for general arrangement of the structure

AIM : To Study the layout and write a summary for general arrangement of the structure

PROCEDURE :

  • First we need to understand the architech plan
  • Assume the column and beam placed
  • Then sketch the beam and column roughly where they are assumed.
  • The columns are marked over the drawing in red.
  • And blue line shows the beam placements

The general arrangement (GA) or structural layout specifies the position of the structural elements in a building such as the columns, beams, panelling of the floor slabs etc, on which the design of the structure is based. It is a drawing used to explain the overall positions of the beams, columns, doors etc to the clients for any changes to be done before the final approval of drawing.

First Floor

RESULT : As per the question, Study the layout and write a summary for general arrangement of the structure has been completed.

4. Model RC columns, beams and slabs as per your general arrangement.

AIM : To Model RC columns, beams and slabs as per your general arrangement

PROCEDURE :

  • Go to the model tab
  • Go to the construction level option
  • In construction level option create the floors above as base, GF, FF, RF, Parapet
  • And give the dimension as per the architech plan provided

  • Next go to the home tab and select the manage property sets
  • And make a new concrete column and rename it C1

  • Now go to the base floor
  • select the C1 on properties template
  • In properties template set the base level to top level - base to Parapet level
  • Place the concrete columns on the grid as created in structural layout.

  • Next create a concrete beam
  • Go to the ground floor
  • Then home tab and select the manage properties sets
  • Select the B1 on properties template
  • Place the concrete Beams as per Centre to centre column

  • Next, change floor level source
  • Keep Base, GF and Parapet as unique.
  • Change 1st Floor and Roof source to GF. It simply copies all beams and columns properties and locations as per the GF.
  • Click on Ok.

  • Set the slab on the beam
  • Go to the manage properties set and select the new slab item and rename it S1.
  • And modify the general setting- Grade M30, Slab overall depth 100mm
  • Place the slab on ground floor and its automatically placed on the other floors
  • Finally all the slabs are placed at its position.

RESULT : As per the question, RC columns, beams and slabs are modelled and arranged sucessfully.
