To calculate the dead , live and wind load for RC residential structure and to apply them using TSD
1. Calculate dead load in design report based on IS code and apply dead load on the model
- Finishes of 50mm
- Slab thickness as per the design
- Brick wall load
- Roofing load
AIM: To calculate dead load in design based on IS Code and apply on model.
CALCULATION:
- Finish loading
finish load (50 mm Thickness ) =0.5 X 24=1.2kN/m^2( Area Loading ).
- Slab loading
Slab load will be generated with the help of software
Brickwall+cement plaster thickness 225 mm
- Brickwall loading
Brickwall+cement plaster thickness 225 mm
Floor Height ( Ground Floor to First Floor ) =3.6m.
Unit Weight = 20 kn/m^3.
GL-Ist floor= 0.225X20X3.6=16.2 kN/m.
same for 1st floor-roof level
- Roof loading
roof level-(paraphet wall height is 900mm and thickness 155mm)=0.155X0.9X20=2.79kN/m^3
roofing load-finish floor= 2.7-1.2= 1.5kN/m^2
PROCEDURE:
STEP: 1
- open TDS software.
- click on open
- open the file from previous assignment

STEP: 2
- Click on loadcases in the load tab
- check if there is dead load created
- if not created then create load case named as dead load by
- clicking on Add option.

STEP: 3
- In the left bottom corner, select dead load in the load case drop down.
- Click on area load in the load tab
- enter the direction as Global Z and value of load as 1.2 kn/m^2.
- select all the slabs for applying the slab loading.

STEP: 4
- Then click on full UDL in load tab
- enter the value as 16.2 kn/m for ground floor and first floor
- select the beam lines and extra walls according to the plan.

STEP: 5
- simmilarly as step-4
- click on full UDL and enter the value as 1.5 kn/m for the roof floor walls.

RESULT:
Hence,The Model is loaded with Dead Load as per the IS code for the RCC structure.

2. Calculate live load in design report based on IS code and apply dead load on the model.
AIM: To calculate live load in design report based on IS code and apply it on Model.
CALCULATION:
The live loads of different type of rooms is to be taken from IS 875 code part 2.

PROCEDURE:
STEP: 1
- open TDS software.
- click on open
- open the file from previous assignment

STEP: 2
- Click on load cases
- click on ADD
- create a load case named as Live Load
- select the Load type as Imposed in the Load Type Dropdown
- click OK.

STEP: 3
- In the Left bottom corner, in the load cases dropdown select the load case as live load.
- Click on Area load in the Load Tab.
- Enter the value of Loading as per the plan given in the attachements for ground floor and first floor.
APPLED LIVE LOAD ON GROUND FLOOR:

APPLIED LIVE LOAD ON FIRST FLOOR:

RESULT:
Hence, we Calculated live load in design report based on IS code and apply dead load on the model is completed

3. Generate manual wind loading in the design report based IS code as per the following input
- Basic wind speed = 50m/s
- Terrain category 2
AIM: To Generate manual wind loading in the design report based IS code as per the following input
INTRODUCTION :
Wind load is the load, in pounds per square foot, placed on the exterior of a structure by wind.
This will depend on: The angle at which the wind strikes the structure.
The shape of the structure (height, width, etc.).
Armed with pressure and drag data, you can find the wind load using the following formula: force = area x pressure x Cd.
Using the example of a flat section of a structure, the area – or length x width – can be set to 1 square foot, resulting in a wind load of 1 x 25.6 x 2 = 51.2 psf for a 100-mph wind.
PROCEDURE:
Given Data :
- Basic wind speed = 50m/s
- Terrain category 2
- Total length of the building (l) = 19.225m
- Total width of the building (w) = 10.700m
- Total height of the building (h) = 16.8
- Class of the structure = Class A
- Life of the structure = 50 Years
- l/w = (19.225/10.700) = 1.79
- h/w = (16.8/10.7) = 1.5
STEP: 1
- EXTERNAL PRESSURE CO-EFFICIENT (Cpi)

RESULT:
As per the question Generate manual wind loading in the design report based IS code is completed
4. Based on the above calculation apply the loadings on the model.
AIM: To Based on the above calculation apply the loadings on the model
INTRODUCTION :
Internal and external forces act on structural components.
An external force is commonly referred to as a structural load; an internal force is a stress.Loads can be defined as the forces that cause stresses, deformations, or accelerations.
These loads are applied to a structure or its components that cause stress or displacement.
There are different types of structural loads such as dead load, live load, etc we need to consider during the design process.
PROCEDURE:
STEP: 1
- open TDS software.
- click on open
- open the file from previous assignment

STEP: 2
- Click on Frames in the model tab
- create frames for outer wall of the structure.

STEP: 3
- Open frame using the structure window
- click on wall panels in the model tab
- create wall panels in all frames.

STEP: 4
- Now, click on load cases in the load tab
- CLICK on add new load cases
- name them as wind load + Y + cpi,
- and simmilarlly create Wind load + Y - cpi
- select the type as wind load
- click OK.

STEP: 5
- Open frame A which is considered as wall A
- Apply wind load + Y + cpi, Wind load + Y - cpi as per the calculations shown above
- clicke on area load
- setting direction as Global Y and enetring the value as 0.42 and 2.5 respectively.
- Similarly repeat for frame C which is wall B

STEP: 6
Similarly for wall C & D
- frame 5 which is wall C and frame 1 which is wall D.
- Set Direction as Global X for walls C and D.
- repeat the step-5

RESULT:
The wind loads applied on the walls of structures and validate be error free.
