Static Analysis On Plate with Holes Using SolidWorks
Aim
Perform a static analysis of two models of the plate with holes. You will have to create the model in Solidworks and perform the analysis.
Objective
- Perform a static analysis on two models of plates with holes
- Apply a fixed relation to one of the short sides of the plate and apply a force of 1000N on the other such that the plate is stretched.
Procedure
- Model the 2 different kinds of models based on the above dimensions.
- Start a new simulation case study
- Apply the material as alloy steel.
- define one of the sides with the shortest distance as fixed geometry.
- And apply stretching (Tension) force of 1000N on the other side.
- Create mesh and run the simulation.
Material: Alloy Steel
Mesh Type: Fine Mesh
Model Created
- Case 1
Length=300mm
Height=120mm
Thickness=30mm
Circular Hole at the center:
Diameter=60mm
- Case 2
Length=300mm
Height=120mm
Thickness=30mm
Circular Hole at the center:
Diameter=60mm
Two holes of 30 mm diameter are placed 90mm away from the central hole on both sides.
Results Obtained by Static Analysis on both Cases
- Case 1
- Case 2
Conclusion
- from the above two studies, we can understand the variation of displacement, stress, and strain.
- In case-2 is better because of it subjects to less failure compared to case 1.
