Sketch a G+1 residential plan according to Vaastu Shastra and Calculation of Loads as per IS code
AIM:
Sketch a G+1 floor residential plan, according to Vaastu Shastra, and list down the names of the structural drawings required to be provided to the site for construction.
Also, assume the sizes of the structural elements (Column, Beam, Slab, etc.,) and accordingly calculate the individual corresponding loads from the members as per IS code.
PROCEDURE:
- Center line drawings: It is used for marking the columns at the site during first stage where soil is excavated for the placement of the footings. It contains all the grid positions and column dimensions and numbering (provided outside of column).
- Footing and column layout: It shows the size and dimensions of the footing from the center of the columns and also with reference to the gridline. Here we can check if the footing clashes and can alter the dimensions of the same
- Column schedule with reinforcement details: Reinforcement details of the column along with column dimensions are provided. Reinforcement details include main rebars and stirrup details to be provided.
- Plinth beam layout with reinforcement: provide the column that are connected to the soil at the plinth level. Specify all details such as tension bars and stirrups to be provided. Grouping of the beams can be done if they have same end conditions.
- First floor beam layout with reinforcement details: Beam details such as size, reinforcement, grade of concrete use and cover used are also to be mentioned
- First Floor slab reinforcement details: Slab thickness along with reinforcement details in both directions are to be provided. Sunken and cantilever slabs to be given more importance on placing the rebars.
- Lift and staircase headroom reinforcement details: Lift pit area, and reinforcement details to be provided from the basement are to be provided in this drawing.
Assuming all columns are 300mm x 300mm, all beams are 300mm x 450mm, and slab thickness is 125mm
The height of the wall is 3m
Considering the floor to floor height as 3m and 200mm thick wall, the wall load on each beam is calculated as.
Wall load = (3-0.45)x0.2x20 = 10.2 kN/m
Dead load of beam = 25x0.3x0.45 = 3.375 kN/m
The live load applied on the slabs as per IS 875 (Part2) is as follows:
Living/Dining = 2 kN/sq.m
Bedroom = 2 kN/sq.m
Bathroom = 2 kN/sq.m
Balcony/Terrace = 3kN /sq.m
Considering 50mm floor finishing the SDL on the slabs can be considered as 1.3 kN/sq.m
Dead load of the slab = 25x0.125 = 3.125 kN/sq.m
The dead load of each column is calculated as:
Column Dead load = 25x0.3x0.3x3 = 6.75 kN
