Sketch a G+1 residential plan according to Vaastu Shastra and Calculation of Loads as per IS code

Load Calculation on Column:

  • Volume of Concrete = 0.30 x 0.30 x 6 = 0.54m³
  • Weight of Concrete = 0.54 x 25 = 13.5 kN
  • Weight of Steel (1%) in Concrete = .54 x 0.01 x 78= 0.421 kN
  • Total Weight of Column = 13.5 +0.421 = 13.92 KN

Wall Load Calculation

  1. Density of brick wall with mortar is about ranging between 16-22 kN/m3. So we consider self weight of brick wall is 22 kN/m3in this calculation.
  2. Volume of brick wall: Volume of brickwall = l × b ×h, Length = 1 meter, Width = 0.152 m, Height of wall = 6 meter, Volume = 1m× 0.152 m× 6 m, Volume of brick wall = 0.912 m3
  3. Dead load of brick wall: Weight = volume × density, Dead load = 0.912 m3× 22 kN/m3, Dead load = 20.06 kN/m
  4. So dead load of a brick wall is about 20.06 kN/m acting on column.

Beam Load Calculation

  • 300 mm x 450 mm excluding slab thickness.
  • Volume of Concrete = 0.30 x 0.450 x 1 =0.135 m³
  • Weight of Concrete = 0.135 x 25 = 3.375 kN
  • Weight of Steel (2%) in Concrete = 0.135 x 2% x 78.50 = 0.212 kN
  • Total Weight of Column = 3.375 + 0.212 = 3.587 KN/m

Column Design Calculations

  • Volume of Concrete = 0.30 x 0.30 x 6 = 0.54m³
  • Weight of Concrete = 0.54 x 25 = 13.5 kN
  • Weight of Steel (1%) in Concrete = .54 x 0.01 x 78= 0.421 kN
  • Total Weight of Column = 13.5 +0.421 = 13.92 KN

Concrete Slab Load Calculations

  • Size of Slab Length 10 m x 6 m Thickness 0.125 m
  • Concrete Volume = 10 x 6 x 0.125 =7.5 m³
  • Concrete weight = 7.5 x 25 = 187.5 KN.

Steel Load Calculation

  • Size of Slab Length 9.2 m x 13.34 m Thickness 0.1250 m
  • Concrete Volume = 9.2 x 13.34 x 0.125 =15 m³
  • Concrete weight = 15 x 25 = 375.19 KN.
  • Steel weight (1%) in Concrete = 15 x 0.01 x 78.50 = 11.775 kN.
  • Total Column weight= 375.19 + 11.78 = 386.97 KN/m.

How to Calculate Load on Beam

  1. 300 mm x 450 mm excluding slab.
  2. Volume of Concrete = 0.30 x 0.45 x 1 =0.135 m³
  3. Weight of Concrete = 0.135 x 25 = 3.375 KN
  4. Weight of Steel (2%) in Concrete = 0.135 x 2% x 78.50 = 0.212 kN
  5. Total Weight of Column = 3.375 + 0.212 = 3.59 KN/m
