Sketch a G+1 residential plan according to Vaastu Shastra and Calculation of Loads as per IS code

The important structural drawings required for the project are:

  • Centre line drawing
  • Footing and column layout with reinforcement details
  • Column schedule with reinforcement details
  • Plinth beam layout with reinforcement details
  • First floor beam layout with reinforcement details
  • First floor slab layout with reinforcement details
  • Lift pit and headroom with reinforcement details

Overall dimension of house = 6.93x 12.815m

Thickness of main wall = 230mm

Thickness of partion wall = 100mm

All beams are 230mm x 450mm

All columns are 230mm x 400mm

Slab thickness if 125mm

Slab height is 3m

Ground floor:

Step 1 calculation of dead loads:

a. Dead load from slabs:

Unit weight of concrete = 25 Kn/m3

Therefore Self weight of slab = (6.93x 12.815)x0.125x25 = 277.52Kn

b. Dead load from beams:

Unit weight of concrete = 25 Kn/m3

Therefore Self weight of beams = ((6.47*4)+(12.815*3))x0.23x0.45x25 = 166.44Kn

c. Dead load from columns:

Unit weight of concrete = 25 Kn/m3

Therefore Self weight of columns = 12x0.23x0.4x2.55x25 = 70.38 Kn

d. Dead load from masonry:

Unit weight of masonry = 20 Kn/m3

Therefore Self weight of masonry = ((12.815*3*0.23)+(6.47*3*0.23)+((2.1+2.1+2+3.04+2)*0.1))x 20 = 735.96 Kn

Total dead load = 277.52+166.44+70.38 +735.96 = 1250.3 Kn

Step 2 : calculation of live loads:

Live Load on all structural elements= 2 Kn/m2 (as per IS 875 part 2 Table 1)

Step 3 : calculation of wind loads:

Since building height is less than 10m wind loads need not be calculated

First floor:

Step 1 calculation of dead loads:

a. Dead load from slabs:

Unit weight of concrete = 25 Kn/m3

Therefore Self weight of slab = (6.93x 12.815)x0.125x25 = 277.52Kn

b. Dead load from beams:

Unit weight of concrete = 25 Kn/m3

Therefore Self weight of beams = ((6.47*4)+(12.815*3))x0.23x0.45x25 = 166.44Kn

c. Dead load from columns:

Unit weight of concrete = 25 Kn/m3

Therefore Self weight of columns = 12x0.23x0.4x2.55x25 = 70.38 Kn

d. Dead load from masonry:

Unit weight of masonry = 20 Kn/m3

Therefore Self weight of masonry = ((12.815*3*0.23)+(6.47*4*0.23)+((2.1+2.1+2+3.04+2)*0.1))x2.55x20 = 811.85Kn

Total dead load = 277.52+166.44+70.38 +811.85= 1326.19 Kn

Step 2 : calculation of live loads:

Live Load on all structural elements= 2 Kn/m2 (as per IS 875 part 2 Table 1)

Step 3 : calculation of wind loads:

Since building height is less than 10m wind loads need not be calculated
