Section Modulus calculation and optimization
Section Modulus of Hood
Introduction:
To find the section modulus of the Hood Designed for analyzing its strength and also want to know the design of difference in the bending strength of Hood.Then the higher of the section modulus of a structure makes the more resistive and it becomes to bending.
Section Modulus:
Section modulus is the retio of area moment of inertia about the neutral axis and to the distance of outermost fiber from the neutral axis.
Z=I/Y
Where as, Z=Section Modulus.
I=Area moment of Inertia (Unit mm4)
Y=Distance from the neutral axis to outermost fiber (Unit mm)
The unit of a "section modulus" is (mm3)
First Design Study:
The Intersection of the Design was taken and the section inertia analysis was done.
Moment of Inertia (max),I=8.9993868*10e7[mm^4]
Moment of Inertia (min),I=2.684556746*10e5[mm^4]
Y=876.8087/2=438.40435mm
Z=I/Y
Z=2.684556746*10e5/438.40435
Z=612.347mm^3
Second Design Study:
In the second Design Study incresing the depth of the Hood panel intersection by 0.5mm.
Then,
Moment of Inertia (max),I=8.996747606*10e7[mm^4]
Moment of inertia (min),I=2.732389227*10e5[mm^4]
Y=876.8087/2=438.40435mm
Z=I/Y
Z=2.732389227*10e5/438.40435
Z=623.2577mm^3
Draft Analysis:
The Draft analysis is used for checking the manufacturing feasibilty of the product ansd in the Hood the Draft angle will be 7 Degree
and less than 7 degree will make the tool wear rate more.
