Section Modulus calculation and optimization
SECION MODULUS CALCULATION
OBJECTIVE
To find the section modulus of the hood and optimisation to improve the overall section modulus.
Section modulus is a geometric property of a cross-sectional shape that describes its resistance to bending. It is a measure of how far a given cross-sectional area is from the neutral axis of the shape. The neutral axis is a line or plane within the shape that experiences no stress or strain when the shape is subjected to bending forces.

S = I/y
Where,
S = Section Modulus
I = Moment of Inertia
y = distance between the neutral axis and the extreme end of the object
Neutral Axis: When beam is subjected to pure bending the top most fibres of the beam are subjected to maximum compression, while the bottom most fibre of the beams are subjected to maximum tension.
FIRST SECTION MODULUS

MAXIMUM MOMENT OF INERTIA= 8.930378894 * e^07 (mm^4)
MINIMUM MOMENT OF INERTIA = 2.81487922* e^05 (mm^4)
SECOND SECTION MODULUS

MAXIMUM MOMENT OF INERTIA= 8.90091331 * e^07 (mm^4)
MINIMUM MOMENT OF INERTIA = 2.854178475 * e^05 (mm^4)
moment of Inertia is directly perpotional to section modulus.
S = I/y
Where,
S = Section Modulus
I = Moment of Inertia
y = distance between the neutral axis and the extreme end of the object.
conculusion
maximum section modulus than maximum moment of inertia and bending moment but stress is minimum.
Above analysis second section modulus more as cmpared first section modulus.
