Section Modulus calculation and optimization
SECTION MODULUS
Section modulus is measure of the structural strength of beam or other structural shapes , it is the ratio of the moment of inertia of given section to the distance of the extrem fibers from the netural axis , in other words it measure ablity of cross section of material to resist bending.
S- section modulus
I- moment of inertia
Y- distance between netural axis to external end object.
S=I/J
A higher section modulus is generally considered better , as it indicates a greater amount of strength and stiffness.

HERE
Y = 481.891/2
=240.94 mm
M = 5.184*10^-7 m^4
= 5.184*10^5 mm^4
S=M/Y
= 5.184*10^5 mm^4/240.94 mm
S1= 2151.15 mm^3
After change in design section modulus will be.

HERE
Y = 481.891/2
=240.94 mm
M = 5.494*10^-7 m^4
= 5.494*10^5 mm^4
S=M/Y
= 5.494*10^5 mm^4/240.94 mm
S2= 2280.23 mm^3
CONCULUSION
Comparing the S1 and S2
S2 > S1
2280.23 mm^3 > 2151.15 mm^3
The S2 is a considered better , as it indicates a greater amount of strength and stiffness.
